@fk, hmm. That base looks a little dry - better send it in for a full service

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@Richard_Sideways, Haha yea, I've given it a wax myself so hopefully it won't need to near a shop for a good long while!
@Strax, I didn't mention it to them, but they could easily have seen it, I expect anyone who works in a ski shop would regularly browse the forums. Was considering mentioning it but didn't want them to think I was threatening them!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This is all well and good and fantastic that @fk, has a replacement board but....
How many of you lot would get your expensive gear serviced by this technician or shop?
There are few times that naming a place is appropriate but I think in this case it is.
The excellent customer service resulting in the incredibly swift replacement of the board is something for the shop to be proud of. It is also something that many SH's may appreciate as they now know that the guys are a helpful bunch.
The shop have said that the blame lies with K2 so they have nothing to loose by being identified.
I think all positive/negatives have been covered and that 's should know where this place is so they can make their own decision.

No way K2 would be sending out a new board, glad you got your board replaced at the expense of the shop.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

So to break this down; we are happy to take everything thing the OP says at face value but don't believe anything the shop 'says' with some even calling for the naming (shaming) of the store that has gone beyond it's legal obligation and facilitated the provision of a new board, free of charge.
We are also happy to accept that all information has come from the OP who we are wiling to assume doesn't have an axe to (stone) grind.
Not the most balanced discussion I have ever read. |
Obviously work for the shop hammy!

@flangesax, What do you reckon! Named I personally think, so future snowheads can make an educated choice?
I wouldn't put my gear near this shop, got a decent idea what it must be....

@flangesax, I'm with you on this. It is frustrating as its clearly a terrible job and some poor person is going to put their equipment into this shop and get it ruined!
It's nonsense that K2 replaced the board.

@fk, I'm thinking the shop was in Dundee! I've heard similar stories regarding a place there, I'm up in Inverness so it must really be bad if I'm hearing it up here!!
