This is probably a bit out of date now, but I returned on Sunday from a week in LDA and thought I'd post the snow conditions as I last found them on Saturday- in a word, superb. There was new snow down to resort level and a good deal lower- right down to the bottom of the "10 hairpin bend" access road. All of the snow that I skied on Saturday was excellent- including the red and black La Fee runs, the Cretes area and even Valentin (in fact, it's about the only time I've ever skied that run without finding sheets of ice- it was so good I went back up Belle Etoile for a second go). We spent the last few hours skiing with the kids in 6 inches of powder on the nursery slopes in town. From what easiski says it sounds like things have only got better, so anyone going out in the next wee while is in for a treat.
On the subject of Easiski, Mrs Evski and I had two private lessons with her. They could only be described as fantastic- I'd honestly say that they were the best lessons I've ever had- excellent diagnostics (i.e. me=very old school!), clear instructions on how to change and really effective exercises to help the change. The effect appeared to me and Mrs Evski miraculous- we both skied slopes and deep snow conditions with her that we wouldn't have attempted before- and made turns! Thanks very much Easiski, we'll be back !

i have booked the week of the 10th off work, looking for late deals, but not much variety or bargains around so may end up back at LDA for the 2nd trip of the season as it was so good

I'm not going until 7th April, but love reading this thread-gets me really excited.
Just out of interest, how cold is it likely to be then? I tend to feel the cold and wondering if thermals are a must that time of yr? Thanks

Well today was quite extraordinary!   It started out pouring down with snow. Then it turned fine and sunny! Aparently more than 1m - yes, I wrote that right - fell at 2,600 last night - just in the one night. Of course that meant that a good deal of the mountain was closed today due to avalanche risk and the pisteurs having to get everything safe. There was also high wind at altitude.
However a good few inches of powder on the piste first thing this morning, and the face and Pied Moutet looked pretty much tracked out. We skied some fresh and some tracked powder over on the Petit Diable and the Vallons in the late morning, and then I brought the last lot down the Grande Pente at 17.00. It was very tracked and we found some crispy bits, but on the whole very skiable, and for 2-3 week skiers they did really well. (If you haven't been here, it's very steep in the middle, but very wide)
Now .... it's due to snow again tomorrow, and I can't move any more as I've just spent more than 1 hour digging out my car - and I haven't even finished yet. I haven't touched the van .. 
debbi, It's now much better than when you were here - we're actually getting a base on the face.
beachlou, It can often snow a lot in April, so if I were you I would certainly bring thermals, just in case.

i am panicking now, just been checking on tinternet and theres barely nothing left for week of the 10th march - not even the cheap flea pits are coming up with the companies i normally use

R32, Black today, so long as it isn't snowing hard at the time you're driving up it, it should be fine. Snow forecast though, so keep the chains handy just in case. It's usually clear within about 2 hours of the snow ending BTW.
