Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

LOVELY DAY IN VAL d'ISERE - BLUEBIRD - JUST PERFECT

Not much to report today... spent the day with the film crew filming indoors type things - YEA I know 'in this weather' but to prove they do exist this is the photo of them.

We only have a few days to get all the filming done therefore gotta move quick.

Really tired but... about to head out and be filmed having a drink with some friends in Blue Note.

Sorry not much ski wise to report today.

Until tomorrow....

I like her big furry tickling stick!

Steve, thanks so much for the posts and the pictures, they're fantastic for those of us living in EK vicariously through you. Hope the filming goes well. Have they done the "noddy" shots yet (where you have to look at the camera, nod and smile, so that they can then cut into interviews)? Very embarrassing.

Looks like this high pressure system and wonderfully sunny conditions continue ...

Bitterly cold overnight - at daybreak it was -13C - it will get warmer as the day goes on but surely the temperatures will plummet again over night... the freezing level this afternoon is supposed to raise to over 2500m!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets hope it does not get too warm and turn this snow rotten..... certainly the melt freeze cycle (in the short term) is great for the on-piste snow pack as it helps bind it all together.... I am convinced that now there is enough snow base to see us through right until the end of season... even if we went tropical... well just about anyway!

Random... the film crew are arriving to film us having our breakfast in a moment so had better tootle along!

I was up in espace killy yesterday and don't think I have ever seen so much snow up there -I always park in the Val Claret open car park (you can park there free for the day if you show your day ski pass at the hut on the way out) but it was full which seemed preety strange at this time of year -we asked the girl in the hut and she let us in after we explained that the minibus with roof rack would not fit in the underground car parks- when we walked from the bus you could see why the carpark had no spaces .....it was full of snow -buried cars and massive mounds of dumped snow. The snow all round the area was fantastic aand a good time was had by all Very Happy snowHead

SORRY FOR NOT POSTING LAST NIGHT / YESTERDAY..... AS I PROPOSED TO MY GIRLFRIEND (thank you for saying 'yes' Clare) yesterday.

The story about Channel 4 being here to profile 'people who lead alternative lifestyles' was only partially true. The program more focuses on the build up to and then the big moment itself. Several months of planning have gone into it all but it all worked almost 100% according to plan. The plan is still for the program to go out on Channel 4, probably 9pm on the 13th February but this is still to be confirmed and again the plan is for our 'story' to be one of four and to last about 12 minutes of actual airtime. So the background story and all the filming that has taken place will still be used its just the focus is slightly different from what EVERYONE (friends and family out here and at home of course) was told.... sorry for misleading everyone but I am sure you can appreciate that the whole point was to capture the 'moment.'

So yesterday the crew arrived, filmed us having breakfast. We bussed it down the road a little bit to St Foy... Clare and I went for a little ski and then skinned around a little (having the little ski and skin together was the quality time I had wanted with her before the C4 film crew got involved). Anyway then the chopper arrived and flew us on an amazing scenic flight around the valley and to the www.valheliski.com/cj/ 'The Pook' Heli Lodge which is a short distance away (in a straight line) from Val d'Isere. When the chopper left I did 'it'.

That is essentially what happened. We were all radio-miked up and had TWO film crews and sound recordists with us all day. A professional photographer as well. It was a tight squeeze in the chopper..... anyway you will see it all when it is on TV and Clare was VERY surprised and overwhelmed.

I did manage to get some photos from yesterday and one of the heli-lodge staff managed to get some iphone footage of the chopper landing etc which I will try and upload later on.

They view down the valley from where 'it' happened yesterday.

This image was actually taken 2 days ago on 'reccy' day but shows the lodge where we landed.

Where the heli came in to pick us up.... as the film crew could not ski and had loads of gear with them (not sure why they had non-skiing cameramen (silly)) the chopper had to land near the piste so the Marie had to give special permission for the chopper to land on the side of the piste in a 'non-emergency' situation.

The crew and pisteurs chatting about a minute before the chopper arrived.

Weather wise it is sun and nothing but sun - AMAZING, at the moment...

Will try and get the video up later.... may go for a little ski today as the crew want a little more of me skiing and then that is that they are OFF to edit and life can get back to normal... as well as starting the planning of course for the big day.

Steve Angus, I have been "lurking" on this thread for some time, reading your updates and getting excited about coming to Val in Feb - but now I need to pipe up and say Congratulations!

That's awesome news, can't wait to see the TV show. Keep us updated on when it will be shown!

Obviously the wedding needs to be at some tiny little chapel somewhere on a ski slope, you and the guests can ski in with your suits/dresses etc! Would look amazing for the photos!

THANKS EVERYONE

Have been waiting all day for the iphone footage to come through but nothing yet - watch this space.

No sorry to disappoint people but I think we will marry in the Berkshire countryside at a little olde church there and traditional marquee reception at Clares parents house... since most of our friends still live in the UK etc and even though we live out here we are big Anglophiles at heart.

Todays report ...

The sun continues to shine and the crew spent about 3 hours with me filming 'filler' stuff as they call it... e.g. different angles of things like me putting my skis on, walking along the road, re-walking along the road..... LOADS of stuff like that. We also went up the mountain to film from the top of the views back to town etc etc etc. Clare and I also had our 'final' interview for camera about how we felt now the news had settled etc.

Sam the director was telling me that the way he may edit it could be to show the stories in parallel so that it is not 12 continuous minutes about us... we shall see.

He also tells me that they may use our story as the lead story e.g. in the tv section for that days newspaper there could be my photo (the pro photographer was hard at action today as well) and a little paragraph about our story and then at the end '...also a couple that does xyz' so we shall see. 'Did I mind being contacted by the production companies press department to get quotes etc.........?' - HELL NO.

Anyway enough on all that - will update you all as I get word - you are ALL VERY KIND AND THANK YOU . The crew have now left town and start the editing process, which is apparently about 200 hours work spread over 4 people (for our story alone), tomorrow morning - I could see the stress on Sam's face as he told me that knowing that they have to have it with Channel 4 by the end of this month.

*********************************************************************************************************

The sun continues to shine and it was pretty hot today. I loved the fact that the snow clearer tractors spent about 2 hours taking the vast majority of the snow from outside our apartment away today... then they were up on the roof of the building opposite making sure the snow was not blocking up key things like chimney flumes etc.

See man in middle of photo on the roof.

Perhaps TOO SCORCIO... but hey it will get a little colder in a day or two and Winter will be with us again.

Working on the Europa Cup tomorrow, Mens Downhill, so will try and get a photo of the action.

I do know that the very high winds the other day / night in the storm, bent some of the safety bars as the chairs on the Borsat clattered together... word on the street is that the same may have happened to the Cascade Chairlift which is the main lift in Val up to the glacier but do not quote me on that.

Have not been over Tignes way for a while so totally pass on all that.

All lifts concerned are being / have been fixed.

SUNNY AGAIN THIS MORNING ...
