Its gone a bit quiet on this forum since i arrived in VT on Saturday 12th. Today was the best day since we arrived for weather. Almost un broken sunshine all day with the last couple of days of snowfall still providing great skiing conditions.
Travelled to Courchevel today where the pistes were fantastic. Came across some very icy pistes around Meribel on the way back though. Sunshine is forecast for our remaining days here. Lots of snow forecast from Saturday. Should top it up nicely for you guys arriving. Hope the cloud and snowfall doesnt stay for too long for you.

Yeah, brilliant day today. Scubadancer and I spent it exploring the pistes around les Menuires recommended 2 pages back. Allemands was a bit cut up and lumpy, but Jerusalem and la masse were uunbelievable.

Get to Jerusalem early, before it gets cut up, its like a rollercoaster. I also really like the swooping blue down from the Boismint (sp?) lift.

You may have done these, they're not exactly secret but my faves over your way
Combe de Caron
Off piste on the Glacier du Bouchet - accessible via a short walk from the top of the Col chair or a steep descent off the back of the Bouchet chair
Lac Noir in La Masse with associated off piste to the left, easily checkoutable from the Lac Noir chair
I've just realised you'll probably be out skiing by the time I post this. D'oh!

Good last day yesterday but wish we'd got to Courchevel ealier as there was lots more fresh snow there. Was bright until twoish then variable low cloud and mist, lots warmer than previous days and quite high winds as we got to the top of the Granges, last run down in better light. only a few more weeks to my half term trip with daughter

I haven't tried this season, but it's pretty scratchy lower down... you might have a bit of a walk and/or some ski repairs to do

^^^ That was certainly my excuse last week Probably the best conditions to ski on that I've known, hope it continues for those of you out there this week. As tccambs and I discovered, if you head over to LaMasse via Jerusalem & Les Menuires you won't be disappointed... Big thanks again to PJB, Dr Rock and bertie_bassett for the recommendations.

Fantastic snow pretty much everywhere I've been to in the 3V since Saturday. Yesterday beautiful sunshine, today started well but got snowy and foggy later which made it a bit harder. Still lovely squeaky grippy snow tho. Enough snow has fallen this afternoon to freshen things up, but unless there's a lot overnight the near-piste will remain pretty tracked out.

Just back from 8 days skiing in 3V .... Absolutely superb .... I've skied a lot and this was one of the best weeks - great snow with regular top ups, cold weather and lots of blue skies.
Chalet L'Ardour with Meriski superb, first 2 night at Hotel Doron were fine but not in same league.
Skied loads of off piste everywhere - on Saturday had 5 ins of fresh on the pistes in Courcheval - Creux was possibly the best 'piste' I have ever skied.
Did all the easily accessible couloirs which were in great shape and did Cure which was awesome - although some mates found the climb to it a little airy !

Out to La Tania on Sunday. Looking good for a powder day on Tuesday.
Any suggestions on where to take my boys for some low level and safe off piste. They are 8 and 6 but do alot of dry slope racing and both enjoyed Jockey's into Le Praz last year. I suspect just wandering off the side of the pistes is as good a start as anything but just wondered if anyone had any better suggestions.

Off the side of the piste is not necessarily a safe way to explore. I would recommend getting a guide or instructor - they will be able to earn their money finding good snow suited to your abilities and provide help with technique, as well as keeping you relatively safe.

Anyone know if its possible to ski all the way down to Brides at the moment? Just booked flights, a car, and an apartment in menswear from tomorrow. I've never skiied down to Brides, I see Raffort and Villages are open down to Les Allues. What is there below Les Allues, there's no piste actually marked?

There is no piste to Brides, there is a sign posted itinerary, it is on the other side of the valley than the pistes to Raffort and Les Allues, starting from the Altiport. The snow cover lower down is not enough to recommend it at the moment and even when there is enough its not a particularly interesting ski in my opinion.

Quick blast around Courchevel today - pistes firm & grippy. Off piste chalky in the shade where its been well skied and still plenty of fluffiness if you go looking...

A Geordie rep in Brides skiied from Altiport down to Brides last Tuesday. He said it wasn't much fun.

Mixed bag today. Some heinous slabby mess off piste above st Martin. Rather better snow heading into Meribel followed by a short hike into the col de Fruit. Fantastic skiing back towards Meribel. Not blower powder but pleasant freah snow transforming in the sun. One of the best runs of my life.

It seemed busier today and not nearly as much sun as forecast. The snow was in lovely condition especially on Legopede and lots of soft bumps at the top of Venturon. Much warmer today too.
