Amywoods1609, Our friends got married at Big White 2 yrs ago they got in touch with the resort management and a very helpful lady helped to source registrar, and sent them instructions on what they had to do before they could get married.
They rented a large chalet to swtay in and they got married in the chalet, the registrar offered to bring up the flowers from town (Kelowna). Dress code christmas jumpers and jeans. Champagne, pizza and in the chalet and later a horse drawn sleigh to a resturant and a steak dinner.
2 weeks of skiing included.

I am currently using a lovely wedding planner in Chamonix but France is a hard place for a non-French resident to get legally hitched so it isn't for everyone.

Rois1980, do the civil bit at home first? Would be same problem if trying to get married in an unconsecrated (ffs) place e.g. Friends who wanted to use the chapel in his parents' house.

That's what we're doing. The Catholic bit (which is what to me is our real wedding) is happening in the beautiful church in Chamonix centre. But I can understand that having the legal bit in a different country won't suit everyone. Luckily to me and to the Catholic Church, it isn't an issue.

You know it makes sense.

SkierAl,We did it in Saas Fee pretty simple loads o local assistance form the hotels and the paper work was all done in the Swiss Embassy before we left.

an increasingly popular option, it seems. Daughter did that - they wanted their own "ceremony" with family and friends, on a friend's sheep farm, in Sussex. So they did the legal bit the day before, with just minimum witnesses (none of the parents was there) and then came straight on afterwards to help get the barn ready for the reception. The bridegroom was pressure-hosing poo-poo out of the barn barely an hour after his wedding.

@SkierAl, Your wedding looks fantastic and it is exactly the type of wedding we are looking at doing, could you give us some contact information for the people you used and costs associated? We basically want to just copy the wedding you had, it looks great. Any help you could give would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Just back form a short trip to Annecy staying with the OH in the Imperial Palace hotel on the shores of Lake Annecy, the lake views from our room were stunning and the service was first class.
It would be great setting for an alpine wedding, and Le Clusaz and Le Grand Bonnarde are only a short drive away, a bit pricey though.

Would you consider a dry ski slope in the UK?
Aldershot has a good one (great view from the top), and there's a military church a short drive away...

What about Lapland |
The Ice Hotel, near Kiruna, in the Swedish Arctic Circle is just amazing. Out of this world in fact. We went a few years back for our wedding anniversary. It has an ice chapel - so could well do weddings. They have normal (warm) hotel rooms too!
We skied at a couple of small resorts - Riksgransen and Bjorkliden while we were there - although you'd have to either do an hour or two commute or move accommodation (which we did) to do so.
All a very different experience - driving with studded tyres (on the hire car) through endless wilderness on roads that were covered in thick ice . Saw the Northern Lights too! Great .

We got married ten years ago in Zell am See, in the Rathaus (town hall lol) which is such a beautiful, typical tyrolean building. Was very personal and the registrar said such beautiful words. We booked it through Crystal and stayed at the Romantik, however, it was the owner, Sabine, of the hotel that was our wedding planner. She arranged everything. The package was £400 and the on
Y thing we added extra was a horse and carriage ride, which was amazing. It took me to the ceremony then both of us round the streets of Zell and to the frozen lake for pictures. We felt like celebs, as all the locals and skiers were clapping and shouting congrats. Very very special day
I know you've said you don't fancy Zell, but if you change your mind drop me a pm with any questions (or anyone else with questions about getting married there). Have an amazing time wherever you choose x
