The ECB are predicted to announce their rate cuts in about a week or two, I would expect there to be a medium-term peak in sterling around about that time with a levelling or a slight fall shortly afterwards and no great strides subsequently for a little while. But whaddoiknow?
Hint: not much.

Have to pay the UCPA tomorrow for 120 skiers at 581 euros a shot!! Please let the pound go up over 1.12 tomorrow for payment!!! and not down to 1.09 because it'll cost me about £1500 out of already depleted emergency funds!!!!

Yep, I had the same dilemma.
However, I saved money on my lift passes and skihire with skiholidayextras:
http://www.skiholidayextras.com
They price in euros, however, that means it's easier to compare if really a good deal or not. And at least you can get it booked up now, if you think rate will get worse and lift pass price works out pricier.
I'll be farting my board with the iron at home this year, to save a few pennies too. All meaningless of course once in the pub and getting a drink for some random at the bar etc.

InTheTrees, when I checked them out for ski passes , prices were the same for the resort in question as I could get at the ticket office in resort.

Hi, yeah but they had a promotion on when I booked (discount code you enter at checkout). It's still there, on homepage (you only get discount once you get to payment/checkout bit). For Tignes we saved a fair bit.

Interesting to see how these things have panned out..................................
So where do people think the Pound/Euro will be around the end of the year, just as the season gets into full swing?
I'll start the ball rolling. I reckon around 1.28, give or take.
The only caveat will be if we get chance to pass opinion on our Honourable Members. If we can in the next couple of months (unlikely) the rate could well go over 1.30, if nearer the end of the year (unlikely) it could be a touch less.
John.

when the poo-poo hit the fan alst year everyone piled into the traditional safe haven the u.s.dollar. sterling got hit first and hardest of the main currencies the retracement to more normal levels should see sterling outperfom the euro gradually.. obama is doing his best to make ther states a less attractive place to invest .. places like cad aud brazil (commodity currencies) etc are doing best of all , but again they fell the furthest last year.. the chinese are investing their reserves in commodities now for the next upswing rather than u.s. debt.
