Agenterre, it is not a big error at all. It's affected a couple of passengers, a few at most, no one died, no one was hurt, and there was not global catastrophe as a result of it. I wouldn't even class it as a trivial error.

- Airline CS employees are rarely responsible for global catastrophes or anyone dying. You know that - relative to this guy's daily 'input' , he has imho made a major error ( or whatever else you want to call it)
- If views and their subsequent discussion on this forum were to be limited only to death, destruction and disaster it may as well be www.condomheads.com
- £100 may be be nowt to you , but to some( including me) it is significant , perhaps you would like to reimburse Smokin Joe? as a gesture of goodwill?
- Trivial / significant ... each to their own perspective, fair enough
ThomazH Methinks you will be valued around here, anything but a clique !

On the face of it..anyone booking flights or buying anything else for that matter, would be a bit p**** if they asked for or recieved a specific piece of advice that then turned out to be wrong. It that person had made plans that cost them more in time and money based on advice from a company empoyee/rep
...of course, they would have a whinge.
|
|
|
|
|
|
JT, in this instance I would be whingeing too. I have whinged loud and string when they cancelled the flight for the summer, so would be well naffed off if i'd booked other flights and parking.

certainly, the Czech is in the post In the scheme of things a hundred quid is nothing and I dont suppose Smokin Joe has posted up all thise times he has saved a hundred quid here and there on flights, gear etc etc.

I just dont get that. Do you think he sat there looking at his screen, took the information and then deliberately altered it? Get real. He doesnt deserve to be attacked personally.

Helen Beaumont, yes, I think he should complain to Easyjet (if he has the time to waste) but I really hope the CS rep who gets to deal with the case is none other than George

TomazH, Don't be offensive. I have never suggested the guy deserved to be 'attacked personally' . the converse is true.
£100 lost due to organisational incompetence is not insignificant to me. Puns aside ... send Smokin Joe the money to validate your own perspective.

And my opinion too.
Name-calling is petty and makes you look childishly agressive. Although it may acheive the aim to antagonise the person you are discussing/arguing with, this serves no useful purpose to the wider community of snowHeads and in fact sabotages the liklihood of a discussion producing a worthwhile outcome.
I'm sure this is not how anyone would wish to be perceived so it is a tactic best avoided on snowHeads.
The rule is, stick to the subject - argue the point - don't make it personal.

TomazH,
What is the deal here? Smokin Joe has lost a reasonable amount of dosh, due to the incompetence of an individual within Easyjet. You are entitled to your opinion, but what is the point of coming on here and offending people?
Or are you just a wind up merchant. More to this than Smokin Joe and Easyjet.

easyJet must be quite pleased when their disgruntled customers get distracted and find other people to argue with! I think I'd be cross to be told a flight didn't exist, only to have it appear on the schedules subsequently. I'd also take issue with the following:
Quote: |
I would suggest that you register for easyJet e-mail updates on the easyJet web site. As well as advising of forthcoming promotions, this will also give advance notice of the schedule release dates
|
the easyJet email update system (unlike the rest of their excellent web presence) is total rubbish. I have been on their mailing list for ages, keep updating my details (not that they've changed) and have generally relied on Snowheads to alert me to schedule release dates. If I'm lucky I get an email a week later from easyJet. But I suspect that being rude to, or about, individual easyJet employees won't make things any better.

Well, this thread is bad news and comiserations due for some, but good news for those who have yet to book flights, who were annoyed about the route not being run. Smokin Joe good luck with getting your extra costs refunded.

I'm with TomazH, on this one. If you have a gripe with Easyjet then fair enough, but naming and abusing an individual whilst cowering behind your internet anonimity makes you look like a ****.
I would sugget that unless you can put your hand on your heart and say you have NEVER made a mistake at work, try and hold off on the personal abuse (especially to some one who is probably on minimum wage)

Its only July, why the desperate rush to get flights booked anyway?. From what I've experienced over the last few years they start them high to get a feel, offer a couple of cheap one ways then drop prices as they fail to fill the seats. If I booked my four flights from East midlands to Geneva this January instead of the September before for my last trip I would have saved 50%

For the sake of accuracy he welcomed me to this forum by calling me a tosser! He publically outed someone at Easyjet who was probably doing an honest, fairly low paid job. And for what? Next we'll be hearing about the extra tyre wear and screen washer used on the journey.

JT, it was at the end of his first post directed at me. Its been tidied up now by someone (cant think why) but it read "What would you do if you were £100 out of pocket then TomazH - send them a thank you letter you tosser?" I guess we are all tossers at the end of the day.

My point is (keeping to topic) that Easyjet are a large company.
I am sure they plan these flights over a long period, they have discussions with airports, air traffic control etc to gain a take off slot at both sides. They dont decide in one week.
I am sure that Easyjet (as a company) would have known one week before that plans were in place.
So either:
1) The CS rep guessed without checking
2) The powers that be dont share information with people on the frontline
either in my view is shocking, and the fact that someone maybe low paid, doesnt come into the equation. In fact, again in my view, its a slur on those of us who are low paid. I think the rep would have been upset at being called on a public forum and rightly so - I apologise for that. But, in my view, he would be just as upset that someone thinks his information maybe shouldnt be trusted just becuase he could be low paid. Another assumption in this pub we refer to. Thank you and good day.

Pay level and degree of acceptable exposure to public humiliation are connected. Period.
A hundred quid - is that per person or shared by a group? Say if there are 4 of you we are talking £25 a head. In other words, and weighed up against a lifetime of skiing, it really is peanuts.

How about spinning it the other way. The rep can present some hard evidence to his superiors that he is being put in a position where he cannot do his job properly (if he cares).
I remain cynical about whether these people use their real names - ever tried to get a surname out of a call centre employee so that you can get some continuity or accountability?
