I've just retired my North face alpine guide jacket after 9-10 years of very loyal use. Looked for a replacment North Face jacket but they are not what they used to be. A bloke in a shop told me that in the late 90s, a load of NF designers left and are now at Mountain Hardware, sure enough their jackets are more like the North Face jackets of old as are Mountain Equipment Jackets which is what I've gone for.
North Face seem to have lost their way and with Customer service like that they'll continue to loose sales.
Good luck.

can do the repairs myself - it's just that I don't see why I should! Was the zip replaced by North Face?
|
Should have made myself clear - jacket etc made, and repaired, by Paramo....

ski, Aah - will you be at MK next Sat? Or at HH for the championships? I might pop into HH en route (well it isn't really but still ....) to see Tom and mary. Tom is daring to compete again!

North Face must be getting desperate to re-position themselves in the market place as they had a 2 page spread in the Mail on Sunday magazine this weekend showing various 'celebrity's' wearing North Face coats/jackets
How can they be taken seriously now, after that type of advertising firmly placing it in the fashion/designer accesory market.
No longer a serious outdoor garment, but you know that already from your very bad experience

I have a TNF mountain jacket (i think!) its 12 years old and still going strong - use it for skiing, walking etc It did leak the other year but I took it back to Ellis Brigham and explained that it was leaking - it got sent back to TNF they repaired the seams and sent back some waterproofing products as its a lifetime guarantee - sounds like its the french being a bit unhlepful !

easiski, bad luck, looks like you'll have to get your needle and thread out (if D G Orf can make an entire jacket it shouldn't take you too long! ) I have a Trespass jacket , £50 in TK Maxx, worn for two seasons now, still fine, washed with Nik Wax, no complaints, but I'm bored with it... off to TK Maxx this afternoon to see if I can find a new one. I wonder what would happen if you took a torn ski jacket back to T K Maxx? Maybe you should change your uniform jacket to something which would match the shocking pink trousers. You'd be noticed...

Ended up retireing my 10 year old Northface alpine guide and bought a Haglofs Helium direct from Haglofs.
Haglofs reminds me very much what Northface used to be. Extremely will made kit and great service.

I have a nini year old mountain guide jacket £250 still is perfect, 2 northface trousers still in good shape (6 years old), maybe norhface standards have dropped? I must say if I look at their new line I don't like it as much as I used to like the Northface.

D G Orf, "a sewing machine, a sewing machine, a girl's best friend, if I didn't have my sewing machine, I'd come to no good end". My mother used to sing. I have one too, and can do curtains, and in the past clothes, but I'd have no idea where to start with a ski jacket. I think I'll stick to t k maxx for jackets, and my sewing machine for curtains

You know it makes sense.
