A deal should include adding the UK to that list of countries. Unfortunately our leader seems more interested in revoking fishing quotas that have been bought by EU residents than in getting a deal that allows easy trade and travel between Great Britain and the EU.
If Johnson doesn't agree a deal, then presumably you'll still be able to complete a customs declaration for your bacon sandwich.

The whole fiasco does appear to be hotting up with the East Coast fishing communities suddenly realising that they will face tarrifs exporting their seafood. The real winners in this whole affair will be the fish and lobsters. With British gun boats keeping French and Belgian boats from their tradditional waters and British fishermen being unable to sell their product the fish will be left to happily swim about and procreate.
@Hells Bells, I think you can take up to 2kg of unopened specialist pet food if it doesn't need to be refrigerated. That would hopefully get over the first day or so.

@vipul, yes, because you would still be importing meat products into the EU. It's not banned, you just need to go through the necessary customs procedures, which is annoying red tape for a lorry full of iberico or brie, and just not worth it for a bacon roll. These are the checks that have caused the government to build a site in Kent that can hold 10,000 lorries while they are processing their paperwork.

I presume the same confiscation of ham and cheese sandwiches will occur for drivers of vehicles from England, Wales and Scotland travelling to Northern Ireland, since under BoJo's deal Northern Ireland is maintaining EU food controls?
When we've collected food from flexiplus service it's appeared to originate in Europe for both direction of travel in the past, although it's French side of customs post at UK terminal, so could still be technically French

Has anyone tested this? It may be logical, but I can't see any exemption based on origin. You are simply not allowed to take any meat or dairy products across the EU border (other than the few exemptions mentioned) without the relevant paperwork.
Bread is acceptable - but I would rather buy it fresh in France!

In the USA I bought a bag of cherries in Nevada & had to declare them at a crossing. Handed them back to me & said that I was not supposed to bring fruit into California.
a bag of cherries is going to do very little harm to the California economy, just like a slice of curd pork would do little ham to the EU economy.

I always take a fair bit of cheddar (as I get it free/cheap from work) with me for our SC trips for cooking purposes, and big bags of cheap pasta etc. I do wonder if I had a few blocks wrapped in my Ski Jacket in my bag deep in the boot with everyone else's bags packed round it whether it would avoid detection!!

This is not an apple to apple comparison. Try flying to the US from the UK and bring any meat/dairy/fruits. They will be confiscated immediately. State to state transport is comparable to intra EU state transport.
In fact, if one brings these items and don’t declare them, they’ll revoke the Global Entry trusted membership (if you have one), gives you a fine and the passport is flagged for secondary inspection in the future. There are plenty of public accessible data on their gov website whenever they revoke memberships for not declaring food. Same with Canada.
Within EEA, everyone needs to meet the same bio regulations so there’s no need to screen food coming from the EEA. It’s a whole different ballgame being outside.
Another problem with pork product is that pork diseases tend to spread so quickly and destroy the entire industry that authorities cannot do anything about it. Thus, Taiwan will deny entry and fine travellers for bringing any pork product for fear of African swine fever.

Just remembered that the UK also has internal restriction on the movement of some goods GB -> NI as a result of us leaving the EU, but that these rules do not apply NI -> EU.
