@snowglider, If I have a deep but smallish gouge at the edge ptex is just not going to stick - in my observation it doesn't stick well to metal anyway.
Now to get the wrath of the purists - I fill the hole with epoxy resin. It fills very well and over time flows to perfectly fill the hole. It is just a bit softer than normal base so it can be scraped flat and over time wears to a very smooth long lasting finish

Been tuning my own skis for years.
Had a good machine tune in Les Gets this time around, in the interests of convenience.
Far better than my cack-handed efforts. Will be machine tuning from now on.

It is this thing, drip a bit of flippin' ptex in there and take off the excess. Job done.
Now I agree with Spyderjon that if that's the edge that can be seen it won't hold, at least in the long term, but the OP says it is just a trick of the light.
