Poster: A snowHead

Interesting that so many places have good snow but are deserted. Same here in Les Saisies though we don't have the snow depths there are after the recent storms in Austria. Neighbours reported it was very quiet today. School holidays or no school holidays. I wonder why so few people seem to ski at easter and so many at Christmas and new year when conditions are usually worse and prices sky high. Easter is an ideal time for last minute holidays.

More like January than April here in Les Arcs. Pistes are in great condition. It stayed frozen all day down to 1600m. The visisbity has been poor above 2100m. Oh! and the lifts stay open to 17:15.

Just returned from a fantastic week in Les Deux Alpes. Very quiet except when the glacier was shut due to high winds. Plenty of snow and lovely wide pistes. And still more snow forecast. We camped down in the village of Venosc. Brilliant campsite called Champ du Moulins. It was our second time there at Easter and will definitely be looking again for next year.

We'll be heading out to Obergurgl at the weekend. Looks like things will be turning back to more Spring like conditions in time for our arrival. I've always had a mixed bag when skiing in April, usually warm with a few wintery days thrown in. I'll take a week of sunshine, skiing in minimal layer-age, and enjoying cold beers on sundrenched terraces......

@Michelle63, we were there last week too (and had a fab week...esp Mon in the unskiable snow)... Ester is a great time to ski to resort in my opinion!

It's the most soft snow we've had in the 3-Valleys in the 6 trips we've made there. We left on Saturday evening after spending most of the day in Val Thorens and it was still snowing. The only problem was the nice stuff was in the fog and by the time you could actually see what you were skiing on it wasn't very long before it got mushy as you got lower.
After seeing the weather forecast I'm very envious of anyone out there this week! Just wish I could be back there in a few weeks for the EoSB. Back to work tomorrow
