@Handy Turnip, should be more higher up snow in the next few days as well. Will be good when the snow line starts to move down a bit and get La Tania white as well. Last year the early snow lower down did not get topped up until 27th Dec. This year no lower down snow (La Tania was pretty white by 12th Nov), but then nothing came and things were pretty thin by Christmas. I know I should not look at webcams but I cant help myself - maybe we could set up a therapy thread.....

Lashing it down with rain in Bozel pretty much all day today - will be interested to see where the snowline is as and when the clouds lift.

Never mind La Tania, currently big fat flakes coming down at 850m in Bozel...

@offpisteskiing, now I like the sound of that
Do you ever think they will build a lift down to Bozel as one rumour had it?

Currently about 3 inches at resort level in Mottaret, with snow level down to 1300m on North-facing slopes. More snow forecast for this week

I have read the tea leaves, consulted the coffee grounds, checked the heights of the flowers and shrubs. I have even spoken to the odd goat herd winter comes to the 3 valleys next week and it's coming with a vengeance.
NB all purely speculation and conjecture on my part, but I prefer to be positive.

This is really geeky but it amazes me how the piste workers remember where all the runs are etc. Or do the piste markers stay in the ground all year?

I think the first piste basher hit the slopes of the Saulire on the 14/11 in 2013.

No, in the summer the slopes are bare and at lower altittudes used for grazing cattle. The farmers often use hundreds of dropped skipoles to hang the electric fences to keep the cattle on.
It is pretty obvious where the pistes are, particularly in rocky areas where they have bulldozed the piste line clear of large rocks.

They've lived/worked there for years, they probably know where the pistes are with their eyes shut lol
