admin, Thanks for a great afternoon. Santa and the brass band was an added bonus!
Loved the Wild Belle's and may have to buy myself a Christmas pressie
Miss Piggy, now knows she can easily ski much longer planks than she is used to. She liked the Salomon Starlight but not sure if the decision was help by the pretty colour

admin, Hope the ski test went well, I was disappointed that I couldn't attend as I would like to have tested some skis out, I went to one a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it and I wasnt looking to buy new skis at the time. If you are able to have another one I will do my best to attend.

Admin, had a great time Saturday (which was my first ski test)! After trying a fair few skis I settled on the Movement Jams. Took them out three times over the course of the afternoon. Just a fantastic ski, had a smile on my face the whole time I was on them.
Have to say all the reps were very helpful. I'll definitely be heading to the next test up around my area.

Graham, a somewhat belated but highly effusive thankyou for organising the day. I had very little idea how much effort you put into these events, and I found it hugely worthwhile. I hope the M74 tribulations didn't cause you too much grief.
I was somewhat dubious about whether I'd get anything out of testing at Braehead, given that conditions, slope etc. don't really come close to resembling the skiing I normally do. However, I got a real feel for how different skis perform (much more than I anticipated), and I figure if I got on with them indoors there's a very good chance I'll also get on with them when circumstances are more challenging.
For those that haven't been to a ski test - if you book through Snowheads you get the added bonus of a scan-in, scan-out of each pair of skis you borrow. This provides an automatic log of the ski model, length, the rating you gave it at the time. It also logs the time you spent with each pair of skis - and I found a very close correlation between the skis I liked best and the time I spent on them. I wouldn't have had a Scooby without the electrickery, and it made my decision making much more rational and fact-driven.
Suffice to say I'm delighted I went:
- I arrived with a wish list and expectations for skis that were turned totally upside down and inside out
- I now wouldn't dream of buying skis without sliding on them, even if it's just indoors
- I would take reviews with a shovel of salt - my experience is it's how you ski as an individual that matters (perhaps bleedin' obvious, but it's easy to be swayed by "expert" reviews)
- Graham's clever logging system is worth its weight in gold
- I just bought the skis that I least expected to like based on what I felt at the test
Nuff said.

Dynastar Cham 97 High Mountains. Ok, I tested the standard version, but I'm working on the assumption there can't be too much difference in the way they ski (backed up by review comments).
Closest in feel were the Rossignol Sin 7 and Black Crows Camox Freebird (which I tested on a different day). I concluded I don't get on with very stiff skis - at least at Braehead.
Fitted with Dynafit Radicals. Now musing about ramp angle from a brief, unscientific trial on the sitting room carpet. I shall do a back to back with my old skis when they are introduced to one another.

Interesting. Ramp angle on Dynafits identical to my Marker F10s at 13mm - Maestrales. Unexpected.
10mm closer to the ski on the Dynafits.
Looking forward to trying them for real but until more snow arrives (or we go on holiday) I'm on the old ones.
