Wot theskibug said ... great day, sunshine, blue sky. Off-piste is delicious at the moment, surprisingly un-skied-out (!) Pistes generally in very good condition, thought some lower slopes scratchy. Some long queues at lower lifts, but everybody is heading home now, so tomorrow will be empty

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Stunning day, sunshine, fantastic snow, no people. Off-piste conditions are superb, with an avy risk of 2. We hiked towards Roc de Tougne from the top of Tougnette and dropped in to untouched velvety snow.....
Later we skied Bartavalle, a black run off the Roc the Tougne, and I have never seen it in better condition

You know how everyone calls Meribel amusing names like 'Merry hell' etc.
I thought of one today - Miseribel. Has that been thought of before?
La Tania in 4 weeks. Can't wait .

Thanks for the updates folks, keep 'em coming I'll be arriving into Meribel this Saturday, in a group of 18 staying at Les Grangettes Chalet Hotel, opposite the main Chaudanne lift area. Looking like some further light snow later this week, just in time... I might venture over to Les Menuires on one of the days, as it's the only 'main' resort in the 3V I've not done before - any run recommendations in that particular area, anyone?

I just saw this too. Wow, small world. There are 4 of us staying there next week, all intermediates. The other 3 are doingthe 'beyond blue' lessons with tdc, while I'm in ski marmalade's 'all piste' clinic. Fancy meeting up to cruise some reds one afternoon?

skimottaret, yes - breche P. You can skin right up to the breche - skis off only for 10/20 yards through the flat bit of the breche where its a bit rocky. All the options have tracks but the snow was still great & should stay that way as it gets no sun util you hit the Creux des Dents. Col du Biol & Couloir des Chamois also in good nick - although the Biol will turn quicker...

Dr Rock, Enjoy! And thanks for the tip, I'll try that one.
PBJ, Thanks, and that one as well...
tccambs, Nice one, sounds good. The party I'm with are mainly families this year, so you'll probably spot us, and I'm 6' 3" tall with bright blue or yellow salopettes. I'll also take my fleece along! I've also been on Trip Advisor for a few clues, it seems that the rooms are 'ready on arrival' so to speak, which makes a nice change. Could mean we could get a cheeky early slide on the Saturday afternoon if the free lift is close by (I don't think our parties' passes commence until Sunday morning).

Haha, this is getting weird; I'm also 6'3" with bright yellow salopettes. I'm sure that I'll see you in the bar. Which flight are you on?
Maybe best if we take this discussion to PM so that people don't think there's new weather news when it's just us yapping.

tccambs, It's an early morning flight from Gatwick, Thompson I think. Agreed, will PM instead.
bertie_bassett, I usually end up 'feeling the need for speed', so I'll try that as well, cheers!

Group of 12 staying in Le Plateau area. Know nothing about that area itself but have been told that 11 of the group we will be doing plenty of drunken night time trekking to get home!
Sensible ones like me will be staying in watching a film on the iPad in front of the fire ready for first lift in the morning.
