Snowing steadily since early hours of the morning. Probably around 2-3 cm at village level by mid morning, and a little more higher up. Still snowing now

Still falling here in Meribel. Not much cover below resort height (little more than a dusting at Les Allues) and resort is a little 'wet' but it's all good-looking up higher with some serious whiteout conditions and decent-sized flakes dropping. Out back of the Morel apartment has a good 5-6cm already and it is showing no signs of slowing up.
Just a shame there are, wait for it, 55,000 lift passes with access to Meribel this week.

10cm max in Courchevel today... come back clouds, all is forgiven..!
Nice to feel some softness under the skis again though

Wow. Busy.
Went down today, Saulire closed this morning and huge crowds on Rhodos, Roc du Fer, Tougnette - in fact just about any lift going. Snow lower down has improved but the moving carpet of people does not lend itself well to enjoying the skiing.

Some half decent off-piste at last, but I'm currently doing base repairs on 8 pairs of skis.

You could make that 9 pairs - my Rossi's took some hammering during the past month and have some pretty deep grooves running the length of them.

Seemed slightly quieter today, steady, light snow until mid afternoon. Visibility poor for most of the day, brightening by around 4pm.

We were in Courchevel last week in Jan - conditions were terrible, everyone in my party thought that the slopes were in a very poor condition, with lots of ice and a few rocks / brown patches.
Yet, if you read the snow reports from here and CourchNet.com you would have thought it had snowed 20cm each night.
The photo above shows how little snow they have had this season. I just wished everyone would be a lottle bit more honest, it's not hard!

russ_e, the photos above are of a town at 600m!!!!
There's a lot of honest opinion on here (and the weather outlook thread) about the conditions.
Summing up what i've read, i'd say conditions are pretty patchy low down, tolerable further up and absolutely fine at higher altitude for great piste skiing. Off piste in certain areas is a no go.
This is looking like improving over the coming weeks though. certainly no disaster.
All depends if you're a glass half empty/full kind of person i suppose

As of today, ice is a forgotten memory. 10cm fell at resort level and has taken hold on the slopes really well, bolstered by cannon working all night. Lovely conditions out this afternoon as most of the cloud has passed. Another 14cm forecast for this weekend once the slopes have calmed down so it's all looking rosy again!

Great day today, fresh snow to be had & with judicious choice of lines enough visibility in the morning to ski the powder. The afternoon then cleared up unexpectedly...
Managed to get first tracks in Panoramique, Sous le Tele right hand, Emile Allais, Curé, Col du Fruit (pretty damn fine) and were pipped to the post by 5 minutes at 3.45 pm for first tracks on the Equinox face... gotta love half term!!!
On a more serious note, definite signs of soft slab here & there, so would be a bit wary of anything particularly steep & lee-slope-ish...
in response to russ_e above - this week was my first week back in 3V after a couple of weeks away, conditions had definitely deteriorated on piste, and at the start of the week careful choices needed to be made as to piste selection, and certain 'classics' that get a lot of traffic (ie Creux etc) were in poor shape, but plenty of other similar slopes were still fine...

offpisteskiing, always meant to ask this and keep forgetting
But....I saw some great looking lines when going up the Pyramides lifts a few years back and wondered if you'd skied them?
It looks like if you took Chanrossa, skiied straight on then hiked up the scree on skiers left, you'd get into the few lines I've seen, does that make sense??

Kramer, been out this week, i would say not as good as courch but the snow was excellent "in between" the pistes. the bumps off barteville were really good, difficult icy bases but well filled in. some decent snow off cote brune and vallon was great yesterday off the edges but very thin for proper off piste so didnt try as a lot of rocks still sticking out there.

that sounds like it, thanks, not skied it myself, was only one track in both last time I was in that area after fresh snow, so was wondering how safe/known it was....

offpisteskiing, What's the off piste bit on the other side going towards 1850 called? You take the red off the top towards 1850 and then traverse off to the right past some danger signs. Then ski off-piste down into valley bottom. Thanks.

pretty crowded today but good variable snow under vizelle bubble and the side of combe du pylon. some mighty big door step bumps in places courtesy of the boarders with exposed rocks so take it slow on the kinda sorta off piste bits on the edges. last day tomorrow should be empty bliss...

"Interesting" conditions as offpisteskiing mentions.
Fresh tracks in 30cm of powder this morning down into La Tania before heading off to the back of Courchevel 1850 to play. Horrendous visibility above 1600m but plenty of fresh interspersed with sphincter tightening ice. Piste "M" as a case in point - knee deep powder, then ice and rock, then more powder. Exhilarating is the word.
