I reckon I could determine if someone was the type of ski partner I wanted to ski with all day on the basis of a short bump run early in the day |
Think I'll be having a longer breakfast

fatbob, I'm certainly not saying that moguls aren't an important part of skiing, just not the most important. I'm sure my skiing would improve if I trained bumps more, but not sure if it would make a bigger difference than if I spent the same amount of time racing, or free skiing.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I should clarify - if someone blasts the piste but gets unstuck in the bumps then I've got a chance of hanging on with them in a day of all mountain skiing, if someone smokes the bumps as well I know I'm in for a very challenging day (although potentially developmentally good if I can hang on).

I also knew a BASI Trainer that flatly refused to teach anything above L2 because they didn't want the strain of skiing L3/L4 at demo level anymore so does that mean they're no good either? |
Well clearly they aren't at their absolute peak due to a physical/mental block. I've got no problem with personal choice myself - I flat out refuse to do single ski drills no matter how good developmentally they would be for me due to my belief that an unbalanced fall onto a free pivot leg is a sure way to shred already fragile knee ligaments? Irrational? Maybe, but it wouldn't help me do the drill properly. Accordingly I wouldn't survive race training or BASI development.
