Snowfall potentially being gently revised upwards over next 48 hours, especially in parts of... the French Alps. 10 to 20 cms in many places possibly a little more in some?
Mid week looks pretty cold.
Warming by next weekend, a little over seasonal average by the looks of things.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday of the coming week are still wild cards. It looks like the chances of snow are stronger the further east you are, but... given the wild swings we are seeing, from none to heavy snow I'm holding fire on that for now. Let's see.
In the meantime. Good chance of snow over next 48 hours. Very cold midweek, especially in the eastern Alps... and then possibly... some more snow later in the week. Sounds alright to me.

Can any of you tell me how the weather "may" pan out over the next couple of weeks in Andorra??? Heading off there on the 6th March and so many contrasting weather reports??? Very, very much appreciated in advance. Thanks
Looks to me like 18z was corrupted so would ignore it.

Couple of cm overnight in resort, still snowing lightly this morning. It's stuck at resort level (unlike last week) so optimistic of a bit more up high.

First post for me here - might as well make myself useful.
Thanks to everyone else in this thread, I head to Chamonix from Australia next weekend - I don't have much of a knack at weather forecasting for the Alps so I have found this thread most insightful.

Webcams for Hauteluce show that it snowed down to at least 1150m - it was all green, now is all white, though doesn't look very thick white yet.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Just had atext from my brother staying in our apartment in Chatel (at 1300). Snow overnight.
Asking what time the ski bus runs so obviously didn't fancy the roasd on summer tyres and can't be fussed with the chains
Good sign and I hope lots more follows!
Just started snowing here in Holland

it is not snowing heavily but is snowing above 1000m close to Grenoble, expecting a 10cm top up.... not enough to please the missus but that passes for a dump in this seasons environment.
Anyway Im just getting the chains out.

Snow looks set to move across the Alps during the day. Finishing up in the French Alps this evening, possibly another light band crossing overnight. Probably picking up in Austria (mainly Arlberg and Tirol) later today and stretching into Monday.
Temperatures are going to fall fairly steeply from today till midweek, especially in the eastern Alps (some -30Cs at 1500m showing up overnight midweek - see above).
This run (06z GFS) actually shows temperatures extending cold into next weekend, warming up towards seasonal average, but not as mild as some of the previous runs.
There is a price to be paid though as the cold is being fed from the high pressure being built over Scandinavia (or actually Russia). This same high pressure is breaking up attempts by the Atlantic to move snow in midweek. The models spent some time trying to build snow for Tuesday/Wednesday, then backed off, then Thursday and are now backing off again. There is still some time for twists and turns, but I would now suggest that cold and dry is looking more likely for the rest of the week. It is worth saying that this is not a clear consensus, not all the models hold this, but it does seem to be the trend.
The week after looks like seeing temperatures cooling again. And possibly kicking off with a little snow on Sunday and Monday. Then you are into FI (not bad as it happens, second week of March cold and snow, etc but... far too far out... ).
But this week starts off with fresh snow. And cold on Monday.
[wetter incidentally is having some problems, hence the links are not working currently...]

Would add that the ZAMG (Austrian weather) derived forecasts are still going hard for Thursday snow in eastern Alps in particular. Still a wild card...

It should start calming down in France late afternoon early evening. Another light band crossing over after midnight. Obviously will vary locally.

First of the 12zs is in. DWD/GME (German model). Keeps enough drive behind the Atlantic to keep options on the table for Thursday...

Snowing again in PSV in the southern alps this morning down to valley levels.
A few cms to top up the 30 cms that fell on mon/tues/wed of last week.
Conditions are perfect on piste and still enjoyable between the trees although getting tracked out unless you try hard to find new lines.
Skied the Vallon du Narryroux off the back of the main mountain on Thursday in perfect untracked powder.
Again if you are in this region over the next couple of weeks you have nothing to worry about and will have lovely conditions if you are a piste skier.
Off piste is all about dropping lucky like i did last week.
Ishcgl in three weeks so I will have to keep watching those wigglies.
Moved onto pacific bar now !!! Watching arsenal still snowing and a lot colder daughter enjoyed dancing !!

GFS 12z keeps options very much open for something Thursday then next weekend showing as very snowy late sat in to sun with next Sun 'just' within the high res range. Would expect some chopping or changing yet.
I await the ECM with caution now as the GFS has trended towards a more atlantic influence persisting through half term onwards for 3-4 runs now. However this time 2 days back GFS had all byt obliterated snow chances this weekend. So will have to see what comes off.
I go out for my second to les arcs next weekend, so slightly biased towards the french side of things I am afraid. Wish i could go more often than the wallet allowed :S.
The GFS ensembles not available yet (the squiggly line charts) so I will wait for them to appear). ECMWF should roll in a few mins
Certainly seems to be a slight swing back towards possibly snowier outcomes for Thursday on most of the models tonight.
Next weekend and first week of March starts slightly warmer (though not much above seasonal averages), after some rather cold temperatures midweek this week, before it quickly looks like continuing rather colder than average for the rest of the run.
Potential for snow next Sunday and Monday as there has been on a number of runs recently. And off in FI too (around 5/6 March), it's been there on a few runs, but obviously too far out to take seriously...
Still. Snowing in the Alps right now. Overall a cold outlook. And chances for snow out there...

Incidentally looks like there could be heavy snow fall in the Pyrenees (stronger further west) tomorrow afternoon and evening....
This is near Tourmalet...
