KO is Tomorrow (Thursday) . It will be a limted sevice that they will advise at last minute.
I suspect it will only be Galzigbahn & Osthangbahn.
Over in Lech proabably very limted as well.

stanton, Fantastic, arriving midnight Friday for 3 days in the powder (never thought I'd be saying that last week)...........will be on first lift Saturday, and take on board caution re new snow stability too BTW.
Great footage of town above too, cheers, totally stoked!

Hopefully it will stabilize pretty soon, but you are right, the current report looks quite nasty - "increasingly frequent full depth snowslides can be expected" ! But this sentence was very promising: "[for today] Snow will be persistent ..."
Do you think they will open Rendl, last time I went in December they didn't open it until the Christmas Week
blytht, Hope so, got plans for Rosfall Sunday or Monday............need to be careful up there on Hinterrendl and Shimmelegg though, steeps/ new snow etc. Think we'll be mainly up Kapall/ Galzig, Stuben/ Albona and maybe over in Zurs. Wow!

And for the first time on a St Anton webcam just seen a couple of piste bashers crawling up and down the slopes. Good to see them getting ready for tomorrow's opening!

What a relief!!! Great updates stanton, Going out on the 10th Dec for a week, staying at Hotel Kristall.

I very much doubt Rendl will be open (It never is), in anycase they need a lot more snow up there. It never gets the same as the western side.
Rendl will probably open a few days before Xmas.
Nobody can stop you hiking up!

Or MTB up it like I did in the summer to Darmstattehutte, 35C............4.5 hours+ up 30 mins down.............discs still cooling down.
Think Rendl is also about making sure theres enough snow in the back-bowls too.
Anyone else going to be out there first 2 weeks of Jan?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hello VolklAttivaS5, will be there from 22 Dec - 06 Jan. Got some days booked with piste-to-powder but will be good to have a ski around. I remember you from the Inspired to Ski chalet in Tignes a few years ago.

Arriving St Anton late on 30th December, there until 8th January. Girlfriend going into ski school some mornings, be nice to have somebody to trail about behind.

nickH, now, now, don't exaggerate I can't remember when that was now, but it must have been a few years back....Was it in Val D'Isere, April 2008, yes?
Thing is, I'm on an all day Backcountry course that week from 8th to 15th so won't be free in daytime to meet up like, and the 'day off' will be Saturday 14th I'd have thought when you are on your way back home again (unless they change it for some reason). Happy to meet for a beer though because I'm on B&B for the full 2 weeks anyway.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I'll be over from the 26th to 2nd with my wife so happy to meet a few snowheads also. I have just invested in some ski touring gear so if anyone wants to teach me how to use it, all the better!
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Peter Ross, I haven't a clue about touring and you will be gone by time I get there, but one of the others may be able to assist!
You know it makes sense.

VolklAttivaS5, yup, was indeed Val'D, & yup will be moving on ( to saalbach) on the 14th, so a catch up beer sounds a good idea as I've heard there's a bit of it drunk around those parts !!
I'll pm you with some contact details should I decide to go ahead with the trip which, currently, is looking more & more likely as the snow keeps fallng !!

Peter Ross, pretty easy to teach yourself, only thing you need to figure out is how to turn on steep slopes. Youtube a bit I guess. Loooooooooads of touring options in the Arlberg, some nice easy 2 hour ones from Rendl as well. Very jealous!

VolklAttivaS5, will do that will be great - though if what nickH says is true, your idea of a pootle won't be that gentle!

nickH, ok. James the Last, it definitely will be a pootle
It will be 'ambient' on the VolklattivaS5 scale but again unfortunately once again that is subjective. I hope you don't wear me out because NickH was exaggerating wildly
Also happy to meet up with your girlfriend after she's finished ski school if she wants to. More the merrier.

True seems easy, on steeps is that a kick turn you use?

We are in St Anton 24th - 31st. If you see a lardy chap dressed in Scott Sports gear testing shiny Whitedot and Movement skis with video cameras attached to the skis, that'll be me getting some early video set-up testing in, purely a business trip of course, not a holiday. (Accountant states I have to say that bit)

Cr@ppy forecast for the next couple of days though
"Significantly milder conditions with foehn effects are forecast at least for a short period of time."
Lets hope it is a short period of time... it's not unusual to get this but it is annoying. Looks like a little more snow coming next week too, fingers crossed.
