Kevin Byrne, off out next week ourselves, only the upper slopes in Monetier are open until the weekend, then the rest of the area from Saturday, pretty cold out there apparently, so they should be getting the cannons going. Only a few flakes of fresh as far as i know. Happy Christmas, maybe we will see you on the pistes.

All of the different sectors will open as the links between them from saturday 19 december 2009.

been snowing since i started work this morning (8.30) its not bucketting it down, its been snowing very tiny light flakes so none of the trees are covered although there is approx 1cm on the roads so as you can see definately not bucketting it down!
Infact i wish it would hurry up and snow properly! Trouble is it is very very cold, hence such small flakes.
STill the luc alphond was being prepared this morning with the bashers moving around the artificial snow they made this week. YOu will be able to ski to resort tomorrow! yay
so all in all, looking like a nice start tomorrow, wish i could ride but some of us have to work! Will go up after work on sunday.

Mattmulkeen, I think it may be more use for white water watch in Spring, for kayakers, and it's a nice view in the summer.

kevducky, yes he clearly does! but if its his first season he's probably so excited to see it snow here its an easy thing to do! it has been a constant flow of snow, it just doesn't seem to be doing much down here, but its still falling so lets see where we end up by the end of the day!

Mattmulkeen, Monetier ESF have a webcam at the bottom of the pistes, but they have it pointing at the magic carpet . It would be better facing up the nursery slope like it used to. I've thought about putting one on the terrace of my apartment.

Helen Beaumont,
Thats another frustrating camera! There's one associated with a hotel in monetier.... it promises to let you take control and buzz around a bit.......doesn't work though...... shame!
Saying that if it did - I would have to sack myself for doing no work!

And the snow cometh!!!!
Hope its ok to ask this here (??? if not will hapily delete or move it!) but is there any chance any of you guys in the know about serre chevalier could suggest somewhere there to get advanced tuition? Skiing for a few years now, ski all pistes confidently but mostly self taught, after a (fantastic) day of skiing in scotland today finally concluded my technique sucks!
So excited the snow seems to be coming, fantastic to be able to use the forum to keep updated, sure beats trying to work it out from the website!

SkiG, best ski instructor in the valley is Darren Turner 0033679068683 he is slightly expensive if its just one of you but he is by far the very best in the valley, and an incredibably funny guy, you will certainly laugh alot as well as improve massively. Easyski will vouch for him!
oh by the way, still snowing, got about 5-8cm on the drive right now and still snowing. its pretty much kept me in as my 4x4 is waiting for new disks and i cant get up my hill in the little car and its far to cold for the quad!

I'd endorse Darren. Excellent. Only problem now, he will be impossible to book!!
Snow is badly needed. Today was a misery. Very cold and windy with poor visibility and stones everywhere! And still many runs closed. The forecasts are predicting snow for the rest of the week. We're heading home on 26th via Turin...hoping we don't have a repeat of last year when Montgenevre was closed to traffic after a big dump.
All you folks travelling out after Christmas should experience much better conditions.

Kevin Byrne, i think tomorrow is shaping up to be a cracker! 8cm on my roof now (checked by opening the velux!)
still snowing hard!
|
|
|
|
|
|
that'll do! very nice heavily laden trees this morning, about 10 to 15cm as far as i can tell from here.
still overcast they say there is much more to come.
could end up being an epic week for those that can go ride, some of us need to work!

hopefully that will hang around and form a base and the season can kick on from here, exposed stones are no ones friend
