If you're close enough to get roosted you're too close. Though it is quite amusing to cut sharply in front of a friend on a spring slope.

I don't really find any slope boring if it is empty, I just do different things. Crowded slopes are boring/irritating but there are usually alternatives.
Probably the least enjoyable slopes are pisted blacks, too steep to be carving without hitting warp speed (unless they are very wide) & not really challenging otherwise.

People faffing. Do not understand how it can take so long to get "ready" for skiing. Some people fuss far too much.
Lapping the same short piste over and over. I much prefer getting to the peak and then skiing as much vertical as possible.
People wanting to go home and get ready before going for a drink. That's not apres.
Hot tubs.

I sort of agree. Except when they have narrower sections or camber which adds some variety and fun. That said I do quite enjoy aggressive short turns on a consistent steep pitch which a pisted black often provides, By that I mean grippy turns, essentially carving the last third.
But I am with you, no slope is really boring unless crowded and as you say it simply a matter of adjusting how you approach it. For the same reason I don't get the obsession with 100's of kms of piste, as if repeating a run is boring. Utter nonsense in my view.

Things I don’t get about (other people) skiing
|
Lack of spacial awareness is pretty much the main thing for me.
So spacial awareness. Big subject, here's just three examples. Obviously I'm not talking about beginners or those out of control for any reason.
People seem to switch off their peripheral vision. For example they have no idea, or just don't care at junctions if there are others on a collision course. Just think about driving through a crossroads without looking.
They set off without first looking (would you pull out of a junction without looking when driving your car?)
They veer about all over the place with their brains tied to a seeming random curve generator. Would you do this on the road?
Honestly people, just use a bit of common will you?
I suppose one more thing I don't get is I don't get why people say they love skiing but don't get lessons to improve beyond the ability to snowplough. A thing is so much more enjoyable the better you get at it surely?
Everything else I understand, might not agree with but I can understand it.
Just me ranting!

@ajpaul, @pam w, @PowderAdict, yes indeed. Although it does have the advantage of immediately spotting the jerrys, who pile into the Rosee Blanche at 4.30, banging on about the pow when it hasn't snowed for weeks (or is rotten heavy leg breaking stuff) , and invariably still proudly wearing their transceivers at 6pm.

Unfortunately drivers do all of these things, at least where I drive.
I've long had a theory that people walk how they drive, and this probably applies to their skiing as well. The old "Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre", has largely become "Manoeuvre, Mirror", with the mirror part only applying after they nearly hit or are hit by something.
As for common sense, it really isn't that common

Serre Chevalier, last week on the sopib
No queues
Perfect range of pistes from well groomed cruisers to gnarly, unpisted blacks.
Large amount of lift accessible offpiste.
Affordable apres ski 6 -7 €/pint
Nice villages & towns to stay in
The only downside is the affordable mountain food is typical for most French resorts, only edible if you really need to eat, though having said that, I had a massive, enjoyable assiete montagnarde for 22€

People that use "Epic" and "Awesome" to describe an average to good day.
Skiers who have been skiing a good few years who.........
Merrily happy slide down a slope without even remotely think of trying to engage an edge.
Same said skiers that will think that they can actually carve.
As above skiers who make no attempt to face down the fall-line, happily twisting their torso in the direction of their skis across the slope.
As above, who make no attempt to unweight a ski in the turn.
Same said skiers who buy a new set of skis thinking that somehow that they will now magically carve the slope

I don't get people who think there is any such thing as "best" when it comes to mountains, language or culture. Preference I can get, but not blithely stating one country is "best".
I don't get people who are unable to see past France, or who think there is more skiing available within France than outside it. And who happily give "expert" advice to others on where they should go skiing, by default from a less than "expert" perspective.
France is a great country, I like the culture, language and food. And there are some amazing mountains and ski resorts there. But a quick check of the map would suggest much of the Alps are not in France, and that other mountain ranges also exist in Europe, let alone all the choices available in North America (or South America for that matter), Japan, Lebanon the list goes on and on.

I love a good sauna after a hard day on the slopes, and I'm now wondering if that's part of why a lively après scene is something I'm not fussed about. An hour or two of sauna cycles (sweat; dunk in cold water; relax with something to read; repeat) while rehydrating well does wonders for my muscles (and exposed skin) after a hard day (even more so if I've still got any lingering stiffness from the journey). After that I'm ready for an aperitif, but I certainly don't want more than a single drink (if that) beforehand.
