Well this "storm" has ended up as one big anti climax/damp squib !
You know it's bad when people opt to take the lift down rather than risk skiing it!
And this was a wet miserable La Grave a few hours ago.
I can't see the off piste suddenly getting better in terms of cold snow, one can only hope for Spring snow now.

That looks absolutely dreadful. Good photo to sum up the season tbh.
Let's hope this is not the new norm.

Bit of a hit and miss weekend - hit up high, miss down low? Another batch of snow due Mon/Tues, hopefully at lower altitude this time!

Grand massif seems to have stayed about even at low altitude and gained 70cm of cement higher up. All altitudes would appreciate the 20cm cold snow hopefully in the forecast for Tues

Will still be warm for the heaviest part of the storm so still need to go high. Wednesday afternoon and Thursday look like the pick of the conditions

We're getting pounded, by torrential rain, gale force winds, thunder, lightning and hailstones, 10 degrees at 21:00, what is going on?

Global warming, freezing levels over 3000m in mid march for the second year in a row. This is not an anomaly it's the new normal.

Things have changed rapidly - judging by the Les Saisies webcams, where the horrible wetness of an hour or so ago has changed to heavy snow, at least in the village at 1600m.
Crazy weather!

Should be an epic day for everyone out there!
Now the big weather even is over, I'm starting to look ahead - according to bergfex, high temps over the weekend and then there might be some dustings next week as the weather cools.

After all the misery is a record March and April on the cards? We’re already back up at seasonal average snow depths at 2500m. If that forecast holds up we may be looking at one of the best finishes for a few years…

Well snow above 2500m is not much use to me if I have to climb from a trailhead at 1200 meters to reach it. Even the high cols in France, when they open, are only just at 2000m and it has rained a lot at that altitude with pretty poor snow cover.

Certainly looking unsettled from the 23rd in the Alps (and here). Looks warm although the upper air is indicated cooling down.

Out next week, reckon it’s about half the temps we saw last year in April! Spring snow, touring and soaking up the rays with a cold one sounds like a dreadful week
