@munich_irish, Cool?
Coming weekend is supposed to be sunny and temperatures up to 10C in valley...
Snowcover is very thin...
Still too early to tell! (But artificial shouldbe ok, given the expected freezing during the nights)

@Langerzug, your fellow country folk over at wepowder suggest a maximum of 4 - 5 degrees for Zürs over the next 6 days, which seems cool to me. There does not appear to be any mild and damp weather in sight but the weather forecast is liable to change more quickly than the Austrian government's Covid rules

IMHO, a significant difference between Benni and Jacob is the position of their arms, Benni arms are held horizontal forward of the body. Jacob drops his each time to his side momentarily after a turn whereas Benni maintains them forward with quicker and more positive pole planting. Jacob's pole planting is more tentative later it is more positive and the turn symmetry is improved. Just an observation.

The Neighbours open up this weekend 20th November (Not the the Ski Lifts)
Lets see what happens ..

Just had confirmation from Sunweb that my trip to St Anton on the 12th Dec has been cancelled. I was going to reschedule for Christmas week instead but I'm not confident things will be normal at the time so probably look to go to Italy or France instead.

Sod it, just rebooked for the 13th through Crystal. First day skiing would be the 14th so hopefully all back to normal by then.

Is there anyone on the ground (not the usual bluffer) there who can give a finger in the air assessment realistically of what may happen. Whats the word on the street re. hotel bookings etc. Wanted to pull the trigger for Jan/Feb but have no confidence the way things are going. Especially with Vaccination rates so low in Austria.

@mcg, no one can tell with you any confidence whatsoever, the snow forecast is likely to be more accurate . Plenty who will say "its all doom & gloom" and no ski season again this year, others who think it will all kick off again come mid December. Afraid there is nothing else to do but wait. Endless discussion of all this on the general Austria thread. One slight ray of light in that it has been announced that ski lifts & areas can open as normal (with 2G etc) though no hotels etc until at least 13th December. How many areas will actually open for what will be a limited number is uncertain.

FYI, for those who use Linie 2 or 4 ski buses: they will no longer stop at Nassereinbahn. The nearest stops are Terminal Ost and Hotel Reselehof.
The Zürs/Lech bus (#92) will depart/arrive at the StA Bahnhof. It appears it will not enter Terninal West. The Zürs Postamt and Lech Rüfiplatz stops are only serviced in the evening.

@ulmerhutte, Makes sense re Nassereinbahn, Ost is only 100m away and turning into the narrow street must have been a pain for drivers to get the the Bahn, and dangerous for those walking in the road.

@Markymark29, Pluses and minuses for us. On one hand, we usually skate across to N’Bahn from the back of the Arlenburg. The potential plus is that queues on N’Bahn might be smaller at lift open. I am also fairly sure the bus drivers did not enjoy the pedestrians and garbage trucks, with no situational awareness, in that section between the barrier gate and N’Bahn.
On the minus side, we sometimes ride Linie 4 and make the call at N’Bahn whether to get off, depending on the queue, or go around to Rendlbahn or Gampenbahn. At the end of the ski day, it was nice to time it so that you were coming down the N’Bahn stairs just as the bus was pulling in.
Bottom line: getting there in 2022 is all that matters. These changes are not that big of a deal in the scheme of things.

@mcg, St Anton haven't got a fixed opening date yet. They say “Most probably on December 13th, 2021”. Ischgl is on the Snowcard, so it's possible they have more potential visitors at the moment. I think Ischgl normally opens a couple of weeks before them anyway.

I saw a skier and a Gondel on the St Anton webcam earlier this morning but neither were moving. Could have been a ski tourer and maybe they were just testing the lifts or something.

Our hotel owner in St Anton dropped me a note to ring and have a conversation on 14 December about plans for the season....
Other places are definitely open atm, such as Kaprun.

Something might be happening - just posted with the comment "We are hyped" and looks like it seems to have been filmed yesterday.

Saw some footage of the groomers out on the Galzig and down to StC. I am taking that as a sign that ABB is fairly confident that the lockdown will lift on schedule. Works for me anyway.
BTW: the conditions look amazing for early Dec!

@ulmerhutte, Good luck with that……seriously great conditions but are you confident of getting in, and back home to Oz?

@Markymark29, one step at a time! We pretty certain we will now get there. Getting home? Well, that is still almost 3 months away, so too early to worry about what the world will be doing then. I could quite happily stay for a few more months!
