Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

D G Orf, Chris Brookes,

Searched the web with a view to dropping off the back of the Schilthorn and don't seem to come up with any obvious links so if you know a site that I can contact it would be much appreciated. Thanks

ise,

You did, and I now look for those sorts of things in the Swiss resorts on my list I have e-mail'd Anniviers montagne for info, looking at Arolla, Andermatt etc etc. It adds a whole new dimension to the resorts and its why Switzerland is my fave country to ski. Well it was before that so now doubly so...

Thanks, great tip

All forecasts now indicating significantly colder temperatures as we approach the last two weeks of November. it's just possible that by the end of next week it may be possible for them to start putting down artificial snow on many of the runs

JT, the DHO used a chap called Hano Tschabold based in Interlaken for their off piste week this year and were very happy with his capabilities, I'm afraid I have no other information on him other than that

Chris Brookes, definately keeping things crossed, I'm out there in just over 5 weeks so I'm just starting to get nervous Laughing wink

JT, not really, you could stay in Lauterbrunnen or Wengen, but probably not Grindelwald, it's probably easier for you to get to Lauterbrunnen and then ring arround some of the hotels or get the local tourist office to do so for you, at the end of Jan things are usually quiet after the Lauberhorn race an the 15th and 16th of Jan and before the school holidays

D G Orf,

We should be mobile so it will not really matter so much where we stay. We will have to build in a 2 day window to accomodate this. I'll leave it a bit longer before haveing to nail this all down. To be honest, the only reason I would include Junfrau on this trip is the Schilthorn, having said that the area would have a few fans amongst the rest of the group..!!

I accept the area has all sorts of qualities but this is an off-piste trip and I am finding it difficult to find out what trips it has. It might sound stupid to one who knows the area so well, but there you go..!!

JT,If you are only spending two days in the region with one day off piste thenthe other i suggest spend skiing the 53 kilometres of Murren pistes. I can suggest a good range of priced guest houses / hotels for every budget once you have decided.

The advantage of staying in Lauterbrunnen thou means you are in between both resorts which creates easy access to both resorts. (you can ski from Murren down to Lauterbrunnen)

I'm hopeful that the area should get some snow tonight, there's a cold front moving down from the north and a narrow band of wet weather seems to be on its front edge, sadly I'm guessing that there won't be a lot of snow perhaps as much as 5cm Shocked yes that's 5cm or 2 inches Sad on the bright side the forecast is for the weather to stay cold so just possibly they may be able to start putting down artificial snow in the next week or two

Snow-forecast are saying that the Schilthorn might be getting as much as 3cms over wed night with the freezing levels dropping from 1850m (afternoon) to 1350m (evening)...

The good news is that they state snow for the weekend with the freezing level at 550m,even Wengen might get the snow at that level:lol:

Still in planning stage and the detour to Junfrau depends on whether the Schilthorn is feasible.
But I will ask the tow authorities of the resorts for BB's when we get the route sorted....so that offer is
appreciated

Just to cheer up Chris Brookes, the Schilthorn has already got some fresh snow on it, looks like maybe sleet in Wengen, tick cloud elsewhere

I know D G Orf but you cant ski anywhere on top of the Schilthorn unless you want to create a bump of snow on the heli pad and ski on/off it all day.. Laughing Laughing

Chris they are going to need a lot more snow than the 5cm or so at the the Schilthorn in order to open, they don't have enough to do weekend skiing this weekend and being honest I doubt they'll have enough for next weekend either.

By the way I notice from your post that Murren are not opening until Next Year (Dec 06), are you sure about that Chris ?
