As some of you may have read on a different thread, car hire prices from the Swiss side at GVA for this season are outrageously expensive (not much for < £1K for a week). Can anyone recommend a decent transfer outfit that normally does the GVA - La Tania route please? Thanks.
'Snowbound'. Not sure if their prices have zoomed with the rest, but used them several times both private and shared. Excellent.
Thank you - we've booked with them.

@kitenski, thanks for the pics. Arriving (hopefully!) 5 Dec so fingers crossed the forecast snow arrives too
All being well, will be in the 3V late Jan and we can't blooming wait! Last visited in 2019 staying in La Tania, but this time a week booked in a lovely little chalet in Levassaix just under Les Menuires. Looking forward to exploring more on the VT side of the valley as we spent most of our time over towards Courchevel and down into Meribel.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hi all,
We are staying in La Tania for Christmas week. Does anyone recall the cost of a taxi back from Meribel?

could do with some major dumps between now and christmas week.
in an ideal world, with the snow gods on my side. snow to keep on falling between now and the 17th dec, road clear for transfer on the 18th, then dump each night for the that week.

After a season in VT in 07/08 and in Les Menuires in 08/09, I'm hoping (visa permitting, still waiting to hear) to be back in the 3V again for this coming season (La Tania this time, have got accommodation sorted so I'll be doing 90 days even without the visa); this has really whetted my appetite

we'll be out at Rebery2000 on Jan 9th, can't wait. Eagerly looking at the webcams for signs of snow lower down. i see also the piste map has now been updated with the new Masse lift

Seems bonkers that the only way to the top of La Masse is to go to the bottom now.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Agree. One of the great pleasures of 3V is lapping the top half of LaMasse via the top gondola. Usually great snow

We've just arrived in Val T and lashed out on season passes today . Hopefully we will get our money's worth this season. Fingers crossed!
We had time for only 1 run today but it was fantastic to be back on snow! We skied Cairn (top to bottom of the gondola) and had great, grippy snow. Loved it!
Bring on tomorrow!

@Bergmeister, Is there a partial refund if THEY shut the slopes at some point?

@Charliegolf,
Well... we asked the question prior to purchase and the very helpful and understanding attendant rang the boss to ask.
Incredibly we were advised that nobody knows anything and a decision is yet to be taken!
We were advised , however, that, as an alternative to a season pass, we could buy a Liberté pass for €30. We would then be required to buy a day ticket for each ski day (but with 15% off for VT, or 10% for the 3Vs), with day 9 being free; and a further free ticket every 6 days after that. In practice, it is not necessary to physically buy a daily ticket as you are billed monthly for your usage.
With day tickets costing over €60 nowadays we opted for the season pass, hoping that we will get at least 28 days in to make it less than €50 per day on the slopes.
Although we have bought season passes we aren't "out here" for the season, as we intend to pop back and forth over the course of 5 trips. If all goes to plan we should get over 60 days in, though January should see us pass the 28 days (in total) threshold mentioned above.
Incidentally, with our previous season passes we managed to ski on 28 days in 2019/20 before the plug was pulled; and we each received €157 refund. That meant our daily ticket cost was €39, so not bad at all - far cheaper than a snowdome!
I have no idea how the refund was calculated but the email I received said that they had taken into account our season pass usage over the (then) last 4 years. Hopefully something similar would apply this year - though of course we would be rather disappointed (an understatement) if it happens again .
How's your first couple of days been, @Bergmeister? Did I see blue skies on the webcams?
The forecast for the next week looks epic!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Handy Turnip,
It has been excellent so far, thanks. On the face of it there doesn't look like much snow. But they have done a great job of opening 8 lifts and 7 or 8 runs. 2 of the lifts (Grand Fond and Peclet) offer about 1000m vertical and we are very pleasantly surprised by the extent of the runs on offer.
It is mainly hardpacked, grippy snow on piste, with only the odd icy patch on steeper sections. At the sides of a few runs there is skier swept/windblown powder and some great, soft, mini moguls. And - the best bit - there is nobody here! It very much feels like we have the place to ourselves . We have got straight onto every lift with no queuing whatsoever.
And, yes, we have had blue skies and mild temperatures!
All in all it is fantastic to be back on snow and the scenery is just great. It has certainly made us realise what we have been missing for over 21 months!
@Bergmeister, sounds fantastic - must be such a great feeling, can't wait to get back on the snow. In fact, just sitting outside looking at the mountains is glorious enough on its own.
Hopefully if the forecasted snow comes good then hopefully the whole ski area will be open by the end of the weekend.

On the face of it, there should be a lot more of the white stuff coming over the next week. Fingers crossed! I’ve been checking the webcams in Les Menuires in the hope to be pleasantly surprised. So far I haven’t been but it looks set to change.

Looks like a good dump is arriving next week, just in time for Mr P who is heading over on Tuesday for about a week. To say that I am jealous would be an understatement as I am stuck back in the UK working. I think his main aim is to be one of the first up the new Masse gondola. I shall try and get some sort of vicarious joy from all the photos he's bound to send me...

@Bergmeister, simplest I've found is to upload to imgur.com website, then click the three dots and shareable links gets you BBcode you just paste in here

@Bergmeister, it's not quite that simple unfortunately. As a super-snowhead you get the ability to post images when you comment, literally by clicking one button - really straight forward! Unfortunately it's a bit more long-winded without it. Before being a super-snowhead, I used to upload photos via snowmediazone, which has a few steps to do it, and can feel a little clunky but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad.
Full details on how to do it are in this thread...
Clear most of the day, but now snowing some quite decent flakes down here!

Sadly, the snowmediazone was decommissioned a while back - which is why I ended up subscribing as a Supersnowhead (ie so that I could post pics).

5-10cms lying down in Bozel this morning Sadly I have been floored by the flu this weekend and next week is a full week of (non-ski) work, but I’m sure someone will have a good time up in VT!!

A bit of optimism from Tim Wall. Fingers crossed the Christmas getaway goes ahead.
We have never stayed in La Tania, but always ski down there a few times for lunch and to enjoy the tree slopes.
