Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can Custom Liners Be Re-formed?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The cold weather has finally got to Mme.Brain and she's re-focussed all her shopping systems on snowWare.

Boots are top of the list and she's turned up some fab Salomon ones 2nd hand.
Now I know u don't buy ski boots 2nd hand but these are top notch, 25% retail price and only used for a week.
Catch is, they come with custom fitted liners so we have to assume they've been fitted to someone else.

Does anyone know if custom liners can be re-moulded, re-placed, re-cycled or re-integrated successfully into society?

Depending on the liner, it may be possible to remould them.
More info please!

u brain, "custom fitted" can mean many different things. Let us know what the boots are and what kind of liner is in them. Regardless, you can likely also get a new liner to replace the old one, even if that one can't be reformed.

They're Salomon X-wave 9w 's

Or was it more info about Mme.Brain that u wanted?

Foam liners? I assume not, and just the heat-formed ones. If the latter, reforming them is no issue.

If the boots have hot formed liners then they can usually be redone up to about 5 times after which they may start to break down, if they are injection foamed for a custom fit they cannot be re done without buying a brand new liner, however injection foamed boots are rare and can easily be spotted because you will be able to see the injection points on the outside of the liner.

However I'm pretty certain that the Salomon ones are heat moulded so should be able to be re done, check with a ski shop for certainty

X-Waves are standard heat moulded liners. As has been said, they can take up to about 5 moulds before they start to break down. Then again, the liner that is in them doesn't actually change that much when you heat mould it - it's a bit of a gimmic in the Sally boots.

Excellent. Deed done => one happy Mme.Brain.

Let's hope her podiatric malformations fall within the limits that the Salomons can cater for Wink

Hmmm. Bolide hasn't been able to get more than 3 out of the yellow/black Sally ones. Have you had this many cycles on the new ones (red trim?) yet?

She insists that the heat is just a sales trick to get her standing in a ski shop in comfy warm new boots and, now that she has new liners doesn't want to heat them.
