Thanks for tuning in last season
The (25/26 season ).basically was saved by Two Dumps .One dump at the Start in Early December and then another big dump in March .. The rest of the season was dry
They will always big up the SnowPak but it was defiantly down on say 10 seasons ago .
Anyway as usual we still had Valluga & Valley/Town Skiing until the last Day with thanks to the fake snow ..
It is a Ghost town now until the summer season..

It looks certain that no new lifts will be built in the Arlberg region this summer as the Schröcken Dorfbahn looks to be delayed again
Since 2017, with Ten construction summers until 2026, only four new lifts –
Zugerberg,
Schindlergrat,
Madloch,
Stuben Albona 1–
have been built in the Arlberg, along with Dorfbahn Warth.
What Your €80 a day Lift pass €5 a night Tourist Tax (most expensive in Austria)
It would easily take ten years, with a minimum of two lifts per construction/renewal per summer, to catch up in direct comparison to other areas if the Arlberg wants to become a premium resort that would then justify the premium prices it now charges
Backlog in investments is questionable compared to other Austrian areas
Maybe they will do some serious investments in the following seasons 2028 2029 leading upto 2030 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships which they are bidding on.
We will find out officially when it is appointed or not by the International Ski Federation (FIS) on June 10–11, 2026.

@stanton, There was some talk of replacing the Valfagehrbahn due to its age but assume that is not happening yet. Not sure where you are comparing with, Ischgl? For me a ski ticket is cheaper in the Arlberg than at SkiWelt (Arlberg offers discounts to over 64, most other areas dont) and I know where I would prefer to ski. For St Anton the issue that needs to be resolved is the one around Steissbachtal and the home run down from Zammermoos - the thought of having a lift linking Galzig and Gampen would work but can see would need much planning. This is something which puts many people off skiing in St Anton but no sign of it being an issue currently with most hotels etc full from mid December to end of March.
Always sad to look in and see the lifts no longer running

@munich_irish,
@stanton, is copy/pasting the discussion on Arlberg lifts and being a 'premium resort' from the German Alpinforum here. The guy is so tiresome....Next day he's promoting 'earn your turns' again. Sounds a bit schizophrenic to me....
Anyway the first really, really big thing that's going to happen is the remodeling of Madloch. Let's see if they make it this summer....

The lifts in the Arlberg don't generally have long queues so I would agree with @munich_irish, that a higher priority should be to come up with some new solutions for alternative ways to get down from Galzig and/or improve Steissbachtal and run 50 which are frequently chaotic in late afternoon. The lifts in Ischgl are for sure a lot newer, really amazing in fact, and there is huge investment in the infrastructure there but presumably a lot of the lift investment there comes from the extended family which own nearly everything in the town. The Arlberg is a bit different.
It will be a bit sad when they remodel Madloch and convert it to a real piste but it's necessary really if the Arlberg is going to be a well connected resort.
I saw a post in instagram yesterday saying that the Pomodoro is closing, forever, after 44 years. Anyone know what's happening to the building ?

It has not always been on the current site. It used to be down the street where Maximilian's is. (Same family own both)
Der Küchl (1980/1990's) a well-known traditional restaurant that used to be where Pomodoro is now ,, They were famous for their Silvester New Year's Eve) gourmet dinners..(10+ courses & wine/schnaps to go with every course..
I am not sure what is coming there next . There were/are plans to build a New complex ( tourist office, Meeting hall ,etc) how far they are with that who knows .. Hopefully not like the one in Lech ..
but I do know for certain there is going to be a lot of development on that side of street (south) opposite Hotel Alte Post ....

It is a shame Pomodoro is closing, not because the food was good, it wasnt - average pizzas and poor pasta but because it was one of the few spots in the village where you could queue up for a table and get served. Whatever replaces it is likely to be a good deal more expensive. I suppose there is always burgers or kebabs!

That's interesting that it's owned by the same people as the Maximillian, it also explains why one of the workers in the Pomodoro we talked to said he would be working in the Maximillian next season. He didn't mention at the time the reason for the move but it makes sense now.

I had a conversation with Nick who owns Pomodoro, confirms this, apparently it has been bought by Pangratz who have the Intersport over the road and re-developed the site where Pomodoro/Funky Chicken/ Platzl used to be into M3/Antonys. Brings back moving the tables and chairs over the road in a human chain before the closing party.

@Langer1, St Anton does not need an Oirish pub! Far too many of them. The Galway Bay in Innsbruck is good though

Der Weisser Rausch is on the 17th April next year.
St.Anton wants the 2033 WM.
Pangratz has taken the pomodoro. Have not yet heard the plans. They are also refitting their Pizzeria in Anthony's. They are also refitting their main shop this summer.
Everyone misses the Funky Chicken and Platz'l.

Lech Bergbahnen: Snow investment pays off
Lech Bergbahnen AG produced 31.5 percent more artificial snow than in the previous year - and that with hardly any increase in energy consumption. This works thanks to targeted investments in the snowmaking infrastructure. The expansion will be consistently continued in the summer of 2026. What exactly is Lech investing in?
Further expansion in summer 2026
This summer, another five million euros will be invested and part two of the construction work around the lines on the Schlegelkopf will follow, which will triple the snowmaking capacity in the direction of Kriegerhorn and Steinmähder for next winter season.
Together with the Oberlech ski companies, the construction of the "Sulzen" snow-making lake is also planned in order to increase the available water resources and with the aim of being able to make snow on the slopes within 50 to 70 hours.
New snow lances will be used in the lower area of the Madloch in order to produce faster and more energy-efficient artificial snow here in the future.
