Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

In this day and age, what is a bargain?

What would you consider a "bargain" or "last minute offer" when it comes to skiing?
We used to go to the local travel agent back in the day, and get last minute package holidays for £99 for a week in the sun- wherever they had.... good times! We were students though so we didn't care where we went/ stayed as long as there was sun and sand.

So what would you consider a bargain to include the following:
- Flights
- Transfers
- 4 day ski passes
- 5 nights accomodation
- Equipment hire

Looking at end of season in PDS here and it is coming in at €700 per person for all the above. Is that considered a bargain?

Seen bulgaria deals on ernalow for around £350 to Bansko for a week, that's flights, transfers and accomodation! Lift pass on top.

Your deal looks pretty good to be honest!

Not bad. Cheapest trip I know of (as partly paid for it) was a university trip which came to around £1,000 for a week including accommodation, flights, tfr, lift pass, rentals and I think basic lessons ( but could be mistaken on the lessons). That was the week before Xmas school hols. However I doubt the accommodation was very salubrious.

It's a good price - just be ready to respond to what could be very variable conditions, and aware that things (including perhaps some lifts) might well be closing down before the 19th. You might only get a couple of hours reasonable skiing between ice and slush, but sitting on a sunny terrace with a beer is v pleasant!

Any reason not to do a week?

Seems cheap enough but it is end of season so it should be.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

For end of season and just 4 nights I don't think it's that much of a bargain tbh. That's normal. Granted sometimes there isn't much difference between 4 or 7 nights and 4 nights can work out either the same as 7 nights or even more but not for this time of year.

In my mind, a bargain is an excellent price-quality ratio. It is NOT paying peanuts for a worthless product because nobody in their right mind wants it.

With Dutch life expectancy, 4300 weeks in a life.
Don't spoil them on rotten quality
Clock is ticking.

So any trip to Bansko can never be a bargain, even if it's free. My time is too expensive to spend 2 hours in the queue for the cable car.

Mid April to PdS can never be a bargain. I want snow, not brown slush puppy.

Your best bets for a bargain
1. Third week of January
2. A massive resorts like Les Menuires, extremely low occupation dumps prices

£1000 per person for 6 nights accomodation full board and 6 days snowmobile uplift (unlimited vert - can do over 10k metres per day if not slow). Right now in Kyrgyzstan. Granted flights and transfers add another £600. But I still think way better value than lift skiing.

Had plenty of £300-350 last minute deals for flight, transfer and HB accommodation the past five years or so with Crystal, Inghams and Neilsen

Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Borovets, Bulgaria
Grandvalira and Pal-Arsinal, Andorra
Cortina, Italy

Over the years I have bagged some stonking bargains

Once had a week half board (incl flights and transfer) in Courmayeur for £175. Add on lift pass, but still humungously cheap even considering it was 2008. Was a nice hotel too, we went back for two further trips

A week in Val d'Isere in a catered chalet-hotel (The Lodge) for £680 including full area lift pass, in 2013

Got a week in a catered chalet in Les Menuires for £750 including full area lift pass in 2015.

Since then though, not so much - and now we drive and go self catered and it STILL costs more than that as we like nice apartments

A friend and I got a 6 night stay in Tignes Les Brévières last Easter for £550 with SunWeb which included ski passes, it was also all inclusive (all be it a bit of French Butlins vibe going on). Flight and transfers brought everything in under 1k which much be difficult these days. We've paid much more this year. For it being such a good deal missed 1.5 days due to snowmagedon closing everything.

Looking at going 15-21 March 2026

Sunweb currently has Valfrejus, France with HB accommodation plus ski pass and ski equipment and flights to Geneva for £578
Rental car is £130

That's hard to beat

Shame it's going to be +10 C

Wow, just looked on their website and they have some really good bargains on there! I'll definitely be bookmarking that. Flights won't work for me, but having the skipasses included is a real bonus!

Sunweb is great, generally, I agree, and for sheer bargain-basement, I don't think it can be beat, certainly not by traditional package operators. I have a few caveats though:

- sometimes they charge more than if you go direct to the actual accommodation providers/ resort website, if those providers/ resort website also have/ has lift pass deals.
- you have to look carefully at exactly what lift pass is included, sometimes it's for the local area only rather than the whole domain, that doesn't usually matter to me but it might for others.
- equipment hire never seems very good value through them, to me, and I would also wonder about quality.

And read the reviews really, really carefully.

Also snowtrex that do the same kind of thing.

Be aware, that sometimes (especially france) bedding may not be included & extra charge. Oh & the lift pass will not include insurance like carre-niege. Usually you can buy that top up at a lift pass station.

Can still be cheap. I looked at somthing in April trying a cheapy. Accomodation with lift pass & bedding came to £700. Liftpass alone would set me back best part of £300 each.
