I was quite disappointed to wake to see that only about 10cm had fallen in Châtel village this morning.
That said, we had an awesome day, lapping fresh tracks on lower Linga almost alone until they shut it, probably to preserve it for competition. The fresh tracks all day at super Châtel. I agree about the old "corbeau" black drag.
There was about 15cm of fresh on top of a newly pisted, fresh snow base. Sublime, flattering skiing.
The snow seemed to fall heavier during the day than last night. It's been snowing all day, heavy at times and tomorrow could be another classic. Will be busy though as sun is forecast.

The drag above coqs is permanently shut. It is now redundant as the new Conche chair gives access to the masses to Chalet Neuf. Morclan / Onnaz will probably open once they secure and groom that area. I am hoping it’s open by my arrival on Friday

It was running whilst closed all day today, marked as open on the interactive map. Hopefully open tomorrow.
The drag above coqs used to give access to the corbeau black, therefore not redundant.
@snoozeboy, Yes it did give access to the Black but that was not it sole purpose. Perhaps it’s too old for as it’s in Switzerland and needs replacing.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yes interesting point. It's technically in Switzerland but was always run by Châtel. Maybe it got too old and super Châtel being more and more thought of as a beginners area.
It was a bit steep to get intermediates to chalet neuf and the piste was rarely open.
@kitenski, for Chalet Neuf take the Conche chair and when you turn right after arrival go straight ahead rather than right back to Super Chatel. There is a sign I think.
Morclan chair was running today but pedestrian only, though the red run down was marked and had tracks on.

Awful accident in Avoriaz involving a snow mobile and a lift queue.
I saw that on the Morzine Source page. Hope the lady with serious injuries recovers well.

Crystal ball time. Thinking of booking a week with my mates on 7th March in Les Gets. What do the locals think will transpire? Looks like the base up top is over 1m and the base at the bottom is 25cm. Is it reasonable to assume that even without any snow the runs will survive down to the bowl/the white cross? And if push comes to shove get the gondola down?
Obviously I'd hope the snow gods deliver lots more,

Re accident wishing those involved a full recovery. My mates mountain biking in the summer, witnessed from the lift out of linderet bowl a large wheel from a digger come loose, accelerate down hill, pass between 2 carriages of a tourist train, then smash into the lift base. The energy involved was scary apparently and it was incredibly lucky no one was killed. Accidents will happen but it would be interesting to know if Serma are seeing more than the industry average.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

We were up super Chatel before 9, sun eventually stayed out around 11ish.
Some brave souls walking up some fairly steep stuff given the wind and avi forecast!
On piste skis got some powder but not steep enough and sank a lot!!! Was in the trees around chalet neuf. Chermue was getting ready to open but gave up walking up the slope to ski down and check it was open on the 2nd attempt!
Morclan opened. Very thin snow off it, rocks sticking through the red!
Powder craze to skiers left of the red, looked steep at the top so I left it well alone!

Nice day skiing today in sun and new snow.
The new linga loft was down for several hours this morning with a "hydraulic problem".

We were heading down from Mosettes to lindarets this afternoon and 3 pisteurs stopped us and 20-30 others because a skidoo was coming up. Never seen this before and maybe a reaction to the earlier accident.
Overall a great day our though witnessed some mad powder frenzy.
Day off tomorrow. After 8 days in a row will be good to sit in front of a laptop!

Any idea if that’s accurate and if so why?

@Ozboy, who did that skidoo belong to? I didn't recognise the name. Seems astonishing that it was so near a lift queue. Horrible thing to happen.
Took the camera out 10-11ish yesterday morning on Mont Chery. Wife picked a good day for her first slide of the season, but it's mostly the front of my board bouncing to house music, you know, powder day, when my closest friends are shrubbery

We went 7th-11th March last year to Les Gets and it was perfectly fine. It was pretty warm and I think the last snow was about 3 weeks before we arrived but it was still reasonable Spring conditions. As you'd expect, the snow quality was better towards Avoriaz, albeit much busier that the runs around Les Gets / Morzine.

@B1g_browner, i actually prefer when the sun is not quite breaking through….keep it off the snow longer, but yeah you get some of the best views around up there on a sunny day, just have to go early

Hello, first time poster in this forum, its been a few years since I last visited PDS. Arriving next Monday for a short break and I was just wondering if the PDS loop is currently open? I have skied it many times in the past in both directions, but oddly only ever been able to ski down Corbeau blue once. I think it was around January 2018.
it would be nice to not get the bus from the Gabelou. Any info is much appreciated. Cheers.

@jenson101, Nothing odd about only ever being able to ski Corbeau once, it's rare to find it open!

I’m at chatel at the moment. My ski group has some non skiers. I’m wondering if there’s a bus between chatel to morgins so they could join us for lunch? For skiers we are hoping to take the long way via les crosets to get to morgins since the link between chatel and morgins is closed.

There is a bus that goes regularly from the Vonnes/Gabelou lift connection area. Take the no. 4 bus from the village and then the Morgins bus (green bus) that goes 10.55, 11.25, 11.55 plus other times later in the day for your return trip. The timetable is posted in the lift area. We just took a photo of it. We've used it a few times over the past couple of weeks and it works well. You can also use the bus with skis and all go together.@euanovsky, Hope that's helpful.
Thank you both. Actually is it possible to ski to Morgins? The link from Chatel is still closed. Not sure if I can go round the long way from Les Crosets?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@euanovsky, the link from Chalet Neuf to Morgins is closed. You need to go long way around from top of Mossettes.
@euanovsky, if it's open (it wasn't on Sunday) you can ski all the way to Morgins via Tovassiere from the top of Mosettes. Otherwise a couple of lifts and down Didier Defago to Morgins. Or about four lifts and you are at the top of Follieuse above Morgins. Lifts are a bit confusing in that area though but well signed.
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

@DJL, If Tovassiere is closed it's usually the long run-out to the village that is the problem, so it's often the case that Didier de Fago, which joins it half way along, will also be closed. Not a general rule, I've certainly known it when it has been open, in fact I think that was the case a coupe of weeks ago, the last time I came home that way. And sometimes the live map is wrong, showing one or both of them closed when in fact they are open.
The piste map for that area, particularly the more general whole-of-PdS one on the back side of the Chatel or Avoriaz ones, has always been unclear, although it's not as bad as it used to be. It can look, on the paper map in a poor light or without your reading glasses, like you can get to DdF direct from the funny little drag lift (Chapelles, apparently, now I look it up, never known its name before) whereas in fact you need to go down and up the Point de l'Au chairlift. Just a heads-up for anyone going that way for the first time.

Warm spell at the moment. Up to what altitude did it rain last night and what are the pistes like today?
Pistes were great on Tuesday before the rain, though busy in linderets, considering it was Tuesday low season. Stayed mostly on the swiss side, which was much quieter.

Pistes all OK this morning. It was raining at 1300m in the night and no sign of fresh snow up top.
I haven't noticed any real difference from Tuesday (had to work yesterday )
I'm currently half way down the run to Prodains having a coffee at Les Côtes. Apparently Coupe du Monde (Jean Vuarand) is now a red run. Seems identical to when it was black to me!

Is there a closeup PDF piste map of the Swiss villages available? I could only find one that covers the Chatel area. I like to have them as a backup
