Will shortly be arriving for a holiday around the area and would be grateful if any fellow snowheads could advise on links to local weather forecasts. Have already looked at the main weather providers ie BBC, Met Office etc but would like to look at local weather stations if any are available

@nahdendee, I use the app WeatherPro, which is reasonably accurate with the caveat that Lake Garda is in the mountains and the most accurate weather report is likely to come from looking out of the window Looking at the forecast for the weekend, you will need a hat, suncream, and a raincoat!

@nahdendee, We're thinking of going to Garda in 9 days time in our caravan, weather looks great!
We always use Meteoblue for most weather in Europe, seems pretty accurate!

The peler wind blows from the north in the morning and at lunch time goes through 180 deg and becomes the Ora and blows from the south.

If @KenX is going there, best avoid at the same time. It will probably be a hurricane or something.

@davidof, true, Lavandou last week was an experience I wouldn't want to repeat anytime soon!

@KenX, lets hope you are not a Jonah and have excellent weather - generally the south of the lake is a bit better.

Check out Windy.com as their models are better designed for water / lake activities and will take into account the afternoon thermals etc.
I know this from comparing various models down at Lac Serre Poncon recently as pretty critical for wind based action etc
Should imagine for Lake Garda there will be numerous locations accounting for varying thermal activity, which could mean late afternoon rain / storms in one sector and not in a another etc

To be honest, if you are bothered about the wind forecast, you don't really need one as it is so reliable you can pretty much set your watch by it!
Windy.com for general weather or predictwind.com for specific wind stuff.

Seaweed doesn't work too well around here, I use meteo.it.
I drove down last week and the weather in Belgium, Germany and Austria was good. Got as far as Bolzano and it turned cooler, by the time I was in Trento it was damp and in Riva it was horrendously wet.
This week is much better - brilliant sunshine first thing, breezes on the hillsides and windsurf activity on the lake.
I'd guess Tshirt and shorts at lake level, sweatshirt or even wooly plus trousers at the top of Monte Baldo.
Yes, there is still some snow on north facing areas of Baldo.
Edit: unlike several years ago, it there have been wet winters in these parts and Lake Garda is at its highest level for 20-30 years.

We visited briefly last summer staying in Riva for one night. We had everything from blue skies and mirror calm lake to a maelstrom ½ an hour later. Beautiful in both.

The road from Polzone (southwest of Vesio/Tremosine) to Passo Tremalzo is much improved. It is not a goer in an ordinary car, but something with a bit of ground clearance will work. Vitara, Freelander or an earlier Panda 4x4 would be the minimum. I'd suggest Riva to Limone to Polzone (lunch at Alpe de Garda) Passo Tremalzo, Lake Ledro, back to Riva.
A mounainbiking suggestion would be Riva to Ledro (using the original road that is now a cycle way that looks down to Lake Garda), climb to Tremalzo, cut across to Passo Nota (pre WW1 the border between Italy and Austria) visit the rifugio (food + drink) and then back to Riva via the dirt tracks as far as Biacesa di Ledro and the aforementioned cycleway. The road from Tremalzo to Passo Nota is cosed to all vehcles.
There is a cycle path/walkway from just outside Limone to the border between Brescia and Trentino, but north of the border, walking or cycling on the western lakeside road is showing signs of suicidal tendencies!
If the sky is clear, the views from the top of Monte Baldo are as good as anything in the Haute Savoie or Savoie.
Unfortunately the Strada della Forra (Churchill called it the Eighth Wonder of the World) is still closed after a rockfall in December 2023.
I'm a bit of a luddite - whilst I have a satnav, I have no faith at all in Google Maps for navigation - a decent paper map is essential.
