No. They keep emphasising “temporary” but it is hard to see how they get that back up and running. This year crevasses are all around the piste and even creeping onto it. They need snow to fill them. Plus they need snow for the piste. When (if?!) the freezing level drops there will be snow again. Fresh summer snow up there is lovely to ski on but it just doesn’t usually come in big enough quantities to cover the glaciers, fill the crevasses and make the pistes skiable again. Look at this photo from today. That would usually be all white and there would be snow to collect to bring over to the pistes.
Serious cold and snow will not return until late September. We still might have decent autumn skiing but this summer is looking like a write off. We need to pray that we get a decent amount of snow in 22/23 or we could be having the same discussion next summer.

I hope so as we decided to book for a those few days in late October. Definitely squeaky bum time!

In zermat tonight. Getting train at 7 to ski lifts. Not bought ski pass yet..
What area is best and when should I plan to be skiing.
Closed t odsy due to rsin( fresh snow !? -8 on top. Raining in Valley.. 11°C ?
Also.. brought carv with me.no charging cable... anyone here with one?.
