@boredsurfin, we had a great trip to La Plagne earlier in the season but I have to say I was horrified by the 360 restaurant which I found an eyesore!

Lovely first day, but it got so warm this afternoon I did a couple of runs and called it a day after lunch. But there’s worse ways to spend an afternoon sitting on the side of the slope drinking a beer in short and T-shirt

@snowymum, Yes, it does divide opinions. There are plans for other buildings and lifts up there but all are on the back burner at the moment.

Got out for first lift and did a few runs over Montchavin side this morning followed by a few laps in Bellecôte and Plagne Centre lift. Frustratingly, 1800 chair is out today as was hoping to head over towards Montalbert today too. All in a great day again though and sat outside the apartment again in shorts and a t shirt.

Thanks @boredsurfin, may just stop at the top of Adrets then! And a real shame about Union.

Down in the MMV building - woke up because I could smell the smoke up in the main building. Still got hoses going on the roof now.
Not much to add conditions-wise, classic spring skiing of ice->soft->slop with the main runs (Pavane, Arpette, Carroley etc) full of huge moguls and flying limbs / skis from about 3pm on. Maybe feels a little bit less busy than this week normally does which makes the busy slopes easier.

Latest update from the Marie
A fire broke out last night at the MMV Hotel in La Plagne. The alert was issued at 2.45am this morning, and since then, a significant mobilization of emergency services has been underway. The disaster, very smoky, led to the evacuation of all residents and staff and the municipal backup plan in place. In order to ensure the safety of holidaymakers and staff, the omnisports hall was opened to accommodate 460 holidaymakers and 60 staff members. The emergency response is currently underway with the presence of firefighters, municipal police, and technical teams of the municipalities of La Plagne Tarentaise and Aime La Plagne. Currently 2 victims in relative emergency have been transferred to Bourg Saint Maurice. Rescue crews are continuing to search to make sure no one remains at the scene. Building A of the hotel was not affected by the fire, but measures are in place to prevent the flames from spreading, from Building B. The situation requires prolonged intervention of rescue means.

Finished our week in La Plagne on Friday. Had a great week of pretty much wall to wall sunshine with temperatures to match. Friday was up in double digits in Belle Plagne and the snow is receding fast in certain spots. But it held up well above 2000m and in particular if you got out for first lift (though hard packed icy groomers to negotiate) until about 2pm, with the sweet spot 10am-1pm.
It started to rain as we left and the forecast isn’t looking great for the next few days but should hold out on the higher pistes with it cooling to the end of next week.
Already looking at 2026 dates though keeping options open (but plan on staying high).

Seems to have been a huge dump, so much so that the avalanche risk is 5/5 and all lifts are shut!

Anyone in LP able to help? Having totally misread the bus timetable trying to work out if there is any way of getting from La Plagne down to Aime tomorrow morning (Friday) by public transport?

Yes thanks, the only one for tomorrow is 14.40. It appears that after the 4th April the weekday morning one doesn't run (I omitted to read the "conditions" when first consulted the timetable!)
Yes, thumbing it possible and we happily picked up a few very nice hitchers when out in December and March, but it's my 18yr niece (I'm in the UK) and she's not entirely comfortable with that. Lesson learned I suspect, taxi might be the answer.

I don't know if possible to get to champagny en vanoise from where she is, but the s66 bus runs from there to moutiers bus/train station.
I don't know what buses are running due to the weather, or if possible to get to champagny en vanoise from where she is as a pedestrian.
Someone with a better knowledge than me might be able to assist you more.

The bus stop for the office de tourisme, is a short walk away from the main cable car (I would check maps or something so I knew exactly where it was) it is like an enclosed space for 1 bus, with a shelter, just a bit further down from where the free? local bus stop is.

Do we know if Roche De Mio lift will open again to access the runs down to Belle Plagne again this weekend?

So the skiing season is over (quite a good one it was too), and the summer one will soon be upon us with the bonus of the Tour de France whizzing up the Bobsleigh Run in July.
But meantime it would be interesting to see the work going on to complete the new Gondola up from Bellecote via Col de Forcle . . .
So a real bummer that the Roche de Mio webcam is stuck on May 8. No further images.
Anyone know of any developments?
(We will try and update when we get back there beginning of July)
