From Val di Fassa, Arabba is easily accessible.
The forecast is on the warm side however Arabba is quite shaded and there are some excellent blacks and reds.
Much of the Val Gardena stuff is shaded also, Ciampinoi side and Monte Pana.

What about the hidden valley? I heard its realy cool and saw that it is possible to get there and back from val di fassa. Is it worth while, and is it possible this late in the season?

@ZerchayahuTheProfit, Definitely worth a visit, as is the skiing around the super 8 cinque torre.
I can't say what the conditions are like at the moment but the lads in the Dolomites are the world leaders in pistemanship. There also appears to be a wee dusting coming at the weekend..before sunshine, take your shades and sun cream.

I was just there and the conditions are fine. So is the skiing in Val di Fassa, with such a short trip why not just ski there?

Just saw this article about the newly reconstructed track at Cortina for the toboganning, luge and skeleton events at the 2026 Winter Olympics, looks like everything is ready.

Probably time enough, I'd say with temps only the higher stuff likely to have been good from now.

This has been the first year that I have read the thread from the start in September to now and as always the information and advice has been invaluable. Without it I would not have persuaded the OH that three trips next year is a really really good idea. Until then I'm dreaming of a white Christmas!

Another lovely season comes to an end - we had a cracking trip to Ortisei in February (first time in the Dolomites in winter). This thread has been invaluable to myself and countless others. Made more enjoyable by the welcoming + friendly contributors - a great community. Have a great summer everyone.

Hi guys, thanks for all the useful posts. Thinking of a first trip to the dolomites next year. Husbands work commitments mean Jan and Feb are not possible. Was thinking of early to mid March in Arabba, as it sounds like it’s central, slightly more affordable and we don’t need major nightlife. We are adult fam of 5 ranging from goodo intermediate to expert skiers but me being definitely the weakest. And I’m not good with slush. Am now worried that mid March could be too late as so warm (though I saw there was a goodish dump this year). Any thoughts welcome!

The first week of March was beautiful this year. Bluebird days everyday bit it was warm and there was some slush by the afternoon. Worst around but elsewhere held up pretty well. The following week was a lot colder. Late January in Madonna it was cold and grey but the year before in January in the 3Vs it was hitting +10 every day. I think these days I just book and hope we get a good week. The one thing that you can guarantee in the Dolomites unlike France is that the pistes will be well looked after which is half the battle in these times of unpredictable weather!

Arabba, with some of it's slopes being North facing, would be a good choice -- just be prepared to finish early PM if too slushy elsewhere!

I had complete slush out early Feb at 2500m two years ago so you can be unlucky any time of year. Arabba north facing and great little town with challenging skiing i'd be happy booking that for March.

The season is over and it is raining. Hopefully they will be steadily re-filling their snow making reservoirs for next season.

As an aside, we had our great friends from the VG valley and their sons stay with us in Cornwall last week. The Dad's own/run a 4* hotel in Ortisei and a well known mountain hutte on Seceda. They were fantastic fun and were genuinely blown away by the beauty of Cornwall.

Trying to book self guided ski safari type trip through Dolomites for early January next year, just after the Christmas break. Does anyone know what kind of restrictions are going to be in place for the Olympics? They don't seem to start until 6th February but presumably athletes media etc will be moving in earlier than that?

Media - maybe 7 to 10 days earlier ? :: My Selva Hotelier thought the Olympics would have little impact on them (he may have been referring to just Selva...!!)
