Guess I'm curious enough to see what my baseline level is to try it if anyone has a guest pass and a Carv 2 to loan on the EOSB. |
I’ll have a couple of spare sets with me and (practically) unlimited buddy passes so no problem at all.

@KenX, I've got to chase down @doddsie's son! |
He’s not making it easy for you, he had another go with the Carv’s today and took it more seriously. Still not the best conditions or equipment, but he’s raised the bar slightly to 169.

Our weeks road trip is over, so no more improvements from Jnr to my ranking until next Christmas. He took the Carvs out on 3 days and believes that edge angle is all important. Also right at the end he realised that slope gradient had a large impact on ski IQ. On the same run he had almost exactly the same scores for every category, but the first and last third of the run the turns were around 165 IQ and the middle third were around 174 IQ, the difference being the middle section was steeper. So next year he wants to find as steep and consistent a pitch as possible.
He also never got to try out the CARV in moguls, his specialty, so hopefully we’ll see how they get scored next year.

Sorry if this has already been asked but is it possible to give the sensors a little nudge/reset mid session.
I Did a few runs today, got to the bottom all sweaty and impressed with myself but one side of the turns came back with like 30 degrees less angle.
My lefts a bit weak but it's not that bad.
Any tips at all?

@dulcamara, yes - on iOS if you get to the screen that shows battery levels there is a settings icon top right , tap that then reset.same place you enable deep sleep

Joined the Carv gang - 3 days in - not ideal conditions here in Serre Chevalier but did score a 146 on our first day when pistes were reasonably groomed and visibility good.
Last few days it’s been a whiteout and snow on top of the piste - but interesting to pick up some tips from this thread.
Best I’ve managed since day 1 is a 131 but given the conditions (and skiing a pair of 90mm underfoot 18R black crows) don’t seem to be optimal for Carv scores!

Skis make a massive difference IMO. I was doing 145 to 150 laps on some slalom skis in the morning and when changing to some Kaestle FX96 slush buster skis in the afternoon (albeit not edged and in slushy conditions) was down to 130.

I was testing some skis out up at the glacier on Sunday ahead of a purchase for next season.
As I already have the Rossi M18s from a few years ago, I know what the new Rossi's/Dynastars willbe like, so I hired the Head e-race pro in a 175 which has a 15.8m radius, and I also tried out the 25/26 model of the Atomic X9S which was a 174 14.8m radius.
Conditions weren't conducive to my best skiing, poor visibility and some fresh snow, add in a mental hurdle I currently have following the big crash a month ago, but I really enjoyed the shorter turn radius vs the 18m Rossi's but with the same length. It felt closer to skiing my SLs but I felt safer in myself at higher speeds.
Back on the glacier over the weekend this weekend, and hopefully some nice sunny days to try and lay down some high scores!

I’m aiming to break the record for the lowest score ever recorded running the Carvs with my DPS Spoons 148mm waist radius: infinite…

Finally got to have a go on my CARVs myself this week, only managed to bump my score up a little to 148, but it was really soft and bumpy, so I think 150s will be possible in good conditions.
On skis, 2 of the top 3 CARV overall scores were on Kaestle’s, MX83 & MX88.

Way to go Swiss Bob some considerable style in that.
Somebody has to give all those carving wippety-snapperz something to underpin their outlook.
