Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ted Ligety Toofy Grin

I wonder who will be next - Ligety is looking quite likely, his last podium was 2018, it doesn't look like things are improving for him - very hard to see though another specialist coming through for the US which would push him out.

Good call.

@DB, Mr GS has had a great career - it makes sense - he was spending significant time at home from the tour this year from what was on his social media - he wasn't preforming at a level he must have become accustomed to which must be tough - he has been through surgery as well which I am sure is a factor.

I saw is name pop up last week on the pro ski world tour - wonder if that is something he will get into next year

@extremerob,

From the link above, two young twins at home.

Quote:
“My priorities have changed,” Ligety said. In addition to Jax, Ligety and his wife, Mia Pascoe, have twin sons who were born seven months ago.
“I don’t want to be away from home for five-week stretches of training or racing,” said Ligety, whose last race will be Feb. 19 at the world championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. “And I don’t feel like I can’t do it all at the level I wanted.”

Sad to see (it always is when a champion retires) but a good call. Going out on top.

Ligety is still a great skier, but at his prime, he was awesome in the GS. Smooth and the angles! It did not seem possible to get into that sort of angulation and still up again.

@holidayloverxx, we skied over from Tignes. It used to coincide with with our Mountainsun trips or later PSB. I think I caught the racing a couple of times. I was there every December from 2008 to 2012.

Probably a good call....but, Manfred Molgg still getting top ten/fifteen results. One more season.

Certainly time for Hannes Reichelt, IMV.

My outside tip...Lara Gut Behrami....29, having the best season for quite a few years. Out on a high and then settle down and have kids.

Interesting words from Lara Gut after yesterdays win:

It was the first time that I knew that my life wouldn't change if I would win or not. I didn't ski to win the gold medal. I just skied to show what I can and that was a big difference...I finally have a lot besides skiing. My life is not just about if I'm skiing well or not

I think there might be something in here - though I reckon with Olympics next year we won't see her go quite yet

Just saw on social media Hannes Reichelt is hanging up his boots - joined the World Cup tour in 2001 and has had 44 podiums and 17 victories!

A shame the race was cancelled so we didn't get to see his final run which he did wearing Lederhose.

@DB, Commentators at previous races said that Curtoni was definately retiring so sounds like she is having second thoughts.

Couldn’t agree more - performance on top of the general covid issues can’t have made it easier. Hopefully a well spent summer will see her back on the circuit
