Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fire in Courchevel 1850

must also be considered that any response time by the local Pompiers to effect rescues will have been extended due to the geographic location of Courcheval. Very sad.

A thought for Ambre Corci who had to jump from the 3rd floor (despite fire crews being on scene), she has two broken vertebra and is very uncertain to walk again.

You can see her in this video at the window

and an interview with her just before going into the operating theatre in this link

Poor woman. I don’t know why they just didn’t get the ladder near her, it’s right there in the video.
If it was arson, as has been alleged, then I hope they find who did it.

I’d be surprised if there were enough appliances within Courchevel to deal with that fire. I suspect that they had to pull in support from Moutiers.

all rather depressing.
for those who wonder "why can that happen", despite being in the EU the fire regs can vary .. i remember arguing with the local execs of a US company in france, during an audit, as to why there were no smoke detectors, sprinklers or extinguishers in the office. was told "its not open to the public, so we don't need to comply". wrote them up and made then fix it... never got an answer as to why they thought staff didn't count...
condolences to all involved.

Did the firefighters get their training from a Fireman Sam cartoon...

Placing the big ladder as far away as possible from the person engulfed in flames.

The jumper needs to get lawyered up and win some cash.

Looks like arson by gasoline and murder.

Somebody is headed to "le jail" for 20 years.

I'm not sure if it's been commented elsewhere, but it seems fires were deliberately set in three different apartment buildings in Les Arcs a few weeks ago! Evil or Very Mad Fortunately nobody hurt this time. https://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/0/18771/arson-attacks-french-ski-resorts.page

@Alastair Pink, yes - it was discussed on the Les Arcs thread, which is where I found out about the fire in the building complex I'm in! 400 people were evacuated from the other half of this building in the early hours, due to the smoke emanating from a Poubelle room. This fire was actually pretty minor (and confined to the one room) but I think the other fires may have caused more damage. I've not heard any further reports.

The building wasn't compliant with EU regs and was a death trap waiting to happen: no smoke detectors, no fire extinguishers and no emergency exits.

The police investigation is ongoing. A local dealer has been arrested for starting the fires but the victims say the real criminals are the building's owners (https://www.maisontournier.com/en/ - if you are looking for who to avoid) and the authorities.

Like many of the 25 victims, Ambre Corci still has physical and psychological problems but she is walking again.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
The firebrigade in the Belleville valley have invested in two rescue airbags so people can jump out of windows if there is a fire without breaking their backs. Good news. Hopefully Courchevel / St Bon will do the same.
