Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Hire - Tignes Le Lac

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Snow Heads.

Are there any places to avoid in Le Lac for Ski Hire?

I was planning on using Ski Republic Tignes Le Lac Palafour
Immeuble Palafour le Lac, 73320 Tignes Le Lac

Thanks

Pretty much all the same. Go for convenience and price. I take my guests to Guy Clarey at Sport2000, just across the road from Ski Rep.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Not sure about SR, my impression was always "average gear, average prices".

Chocksaway always starts a good thread with links, including ski hire - think Guy Clary in Rue de La Poste is the place in Lac (FYI thats where hirers in our group will be going in January) and within 50 yards of the SR shop.

This is a great thread and will get busier as the snow arrives.

That mostly mirrors my experience, which was in Val Claret - but I'd say cheaper prices and older, shabby gear - Though I found them helpful. The Ski Set "Deep Snow" shop had first class gear, but was more expensive.

Probably right !

I was being diplomatic in case anyone had "ties" with them.

We only used them once or twice as a friend of ours had a mate managing a shop a number of years back and we got free equipment (except insurance). That wasnt a bad deal, but the skis were still a bit "meh".

@jason.peter1986, +1 for all comments above.

Another one I’ve used about 3 times and found good skis, flexible, helpful approach is Duch Sports. Just up Rue de la Poste from Palafour chairlift, by supermarket (Carrefour??).

We were there last year and used Mountain Story Ski Hire. They are right next to the Palafour lift and were fantastic. We hired one of their lockers and left the kit there every evening as well. The guys were good. Kit pretty good as well.

Now thats a great shout FK, I have just reminded my mates about this place. We are in a different hotel this year, up the top of rue de la poste, and I could see the schlep up there far enough after a few days.

Those lockers are a magic idea - well reminded !

Have found Intersport online bookings to be a bargain using this link, which I originally saw advertised on the Telegraph ski website:
