Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all.

Im thinking of a new ski set. Im interested in a ski for some off piste and some on piste. I have rossi zenith 10 for groomers.

Im thinking of a dynastar cham 97 but wondered what length. Im 177cm tall.

Ski tech changes so much over the last few years im a bit baffled. So going for new skis (in a sale).

Also looking for binding suggestions up to 150pounds (money not weight)

I'm in the process of buying these. They have rockered and reverse cambered tip meaning they have a shorter effective edge (on piste) and will therefore ski short. The options are 178cm and 184cm for you, I would be inclined to size up to 184cm.

For reference I'm buying the HM version in a 184. I'm 182cm tall and 75kg.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks ScottyGBR, im smaller but about 84kg so 184 sounds right then. PS i has my hands on carbon skis for the first time yesterday and WOW!!!!! They weigh nothing

I'd say to go up 10 cms or so from your height for all mountain skis, especially with twin tips. If you want a great AM ski then check the Atomic Alibi, these come in 187 so pretty much bang on in terms of sizing, and I can tell you from experience that they are ace in mixed conditions. Carve really well on piste and float on powder. The rocker in particular feels amazing when you find some steep powder as you can just flow down it super smoothly.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

rasmanisar, Unless you are mostly skiing forests, with the slower speeds and tight turns I prefer a ski about the same height as myself, I am fairly light though. Just a thought.

rasmanisar, I'd go up a bit from the height of skis you skied if they weren't rockered not 10cm taller than yourself though! My non-rockered skis are 180 and 185. My rockered skis are 190 and 195. I'm 185 tall.
