@stanton, I'm thinking of mid-Dec trip and wondered whether you know when the resort is scheduled to fully open - or do they not decide that until nearer the time?
It's possible Rendl will not be open until Xmas, depending on snow, but pretty much everything else normally opens by mid Dec in my experience.
Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@sah, Agreed, and strictly off limits for OP on the Rendl north side until the day before we get there end January
Schindlergratbahn can also be later opening compared with most runs.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Rendl will probably open on the 19th or 20th.
Schindler & Valluga depends on the weather & snow.
Snow and way more important a drop in the temperature
is depesperatly needed in the next 3 weeks.
Without negative temperatures = No Artificial Snow which
the Arlberg relies on as a xmas/new year holiday season saver
or perhaps whats happened in the past, no snow till 2nd week of december then a huge dump !
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Projekt Dias (Rendl/Kappl)
Decision expected early next year. Operator (Arlbergerbahn) expects objections if succesful. However doesnt expect any construction to start next summer.
Looks like first week in December tempetature will
drop to freezing. So they will be able to get the snow
cannons going 24/7 ...
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

Almost December and no real dumps? Winter, you are a cruel temptress.
There has been - go back through this thread for photos. There's snow on the ground in St Christoph village (as of when I drove past on Sunday evening). Chill.

@clarky999, Like 12/13 and look what happened then!! Thats why I've delayed until end January to let that 4m of fresh powder settle down on the cold base! Not really... just can't afford New Year. It'll be awesome by mid December, always is......

According to the local farmers in St Jakob the Fohn will leave at the weekend.
Dec 1 & 2nd will bring snow followed by much cooler wintry temperatures.
You know it makes sense.

When's the ruddy snow coming? - that's what we really want to know.
Arghh.. Due to arrive on 16th December. Yes, I know shouldn't be panicking and things can change quickly and dramatically, but should I cut my losses and cancel (flights booked, hotel is cancellable with a 50% penalty)....
or is it always like this at end November?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@TheManOnTheBus, I'm pretty sure they will have some skiing available on the 16th Dec, if it gets colder next weekend as forecast then they can run the snow cannons.

Comically ridiculous, why on earth should you cancel, at the very least you'll have a great holiday in a cracking party town presumably in good company and with a decent amount of piste skiing on artificial snow (as kitenski mentions it is forecast to get a lot colder). But your trip is still weeks away and anything can and probably will happen. There are some signs in the model outputs of a reasonable dump middle of next week. (usual caveats apply)

Thank you, yes, was being ridiculous I know. Will have a good holiday (but not partying since have my son with me) whatever happens I'm sure.
With one dump the whole mountain can change overnight.
Next week the temperature is dropping significantly -10C at night .
The lift company with all the cannons running 24/7
can lay down the pistes with kunstschnee in just 3 days top to bottom.

@TheManOnTheBus, We are also off to St Anton on 14th Dec, so keeping everything crossed. I'll go prepared for a walking holiday if no snow! We are two families with four teenagers, so let me know if you are looking for ski buddies (on piste only for us I'm afraid - we are powder wimps, and the daughter doesn't like turning!).

Ok folks. Not such good news from the Farmer boys this morning. They are feeling the Fohn & looking up the clouds above Rendl.
It is warm (to warm) and the promised snow is now likely to come earlier on Sunday but as rain .
The Cold Front will come afterwards next week however there is no precipitation expected before the season starts.
With the Cold Front next week they should be able to get the snow cannons going.
There hasnt been any annoucement yet (about delay opening) from the Lift Company.
KK (Dec 5th) & Moose (Dec4th) will be starting the season regardless of No Snow or Snow .
