Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@northantsred, I hope so. It's still french hols for one more week but only one zone and not Paris or the local zone so I'm hoping it will be much quieter. This past week has been busy.

Sadly I was wrong Sad It was really busy up there today to say it's a changeover day and almost the end of the holidays. And it's gridlocked through town and at the supermarket I hear.

Very wet and miserable here this morning. Bit of a dusting overnight but warmed up and turned to rain. Been raining most of the day so far at 1200m. I was out hospital visiting this morning but hubby and son went up as son had ski club. It was raining up there too. Hubby estimates that still wet at the top of Rochassons and then he went over to Avoriaz where he reports ice blowing in his face on the Lac des Intrets chair. Nice day Sad

Hiked up pt des chesery today, didn't bother with the summit as without and definition of trees we would struggle to maintain bearings. Estimate we ended up at 2200m. Still rain. Not a good day.

Good morning from Chatel. Unfortunately it is a very grim one Sad It's been raining fairly constantly for the past 24 hours or so now and it's mild too. Freezing levels are high so pretty much all the ski area is wet not snowy Sad It's windy too. Fingers crossed for an improvement tomorrow.

I heard a fair bit of avalanche blasting early this morning. Was thinking that somewhere higher up must have got some decent snowfall for that to be required. Either that or the rain saturated snowpack is causing a danger somewhere.....

Hmmm…..all looking a bit soggy on the webcams and doesn’t sound as though it was much fun yesterday. Looks to be a big puddle at the bottom of the Tronchey chair in Torgon. Hope it cools a bit and drops some before the weekend. Still any ski trip is better than a week in the office.

Yep lots of blasting this morning. And lots of evidence of avalanches up in PLJ sector, including a section on to Rhododendrons and also part of the steep face had slid across the track just above plaine dranse, but was cleared. Rain. High winds. Closed lifts. Horizontal hail. Saturated snow. Puddles. Some brown showing through in a few places. But hey.... Much much quieter Smile every cloud and all that Laughing

I was up to shadow a lesson and then just did a couple of runs.

@WindOfChange, not sure where you saw the sun from but not up here that's for sure!

Forecast is better.

wow, it seems that God really pushed the weather for us with six days of blue skies sandwiched by 2 Saturdays when it snowed. Also a couple of days looking down to morzine under the fog/cloud, really great week we had.

More positive news - tested the blue runs down from Pleney to Mouilles, Atray and Fys lifts today. Piste conditions very good - slightly harder in the morning then softening. Red pistes in particular quiet at lunchtime. Some snow predicted on Cham meteo too.

Just in from a fantastic day! What a difference a day makes snowHead

Glorious sunshine all day.

There had been a good top up of fresh snow overnight up high snowHead

Great on piste conditions on the whole except for the heavy traffic areas later this afternoon which were just scraped and sugary.

Nice off piste in places and we were still finding some fresh tracks this afternoon Cool off piste is good powder in places, wind blown and icy in others, breakable crust in others. All good though snowHead

Busy again today. Someone please tell me they are all going home this Saturday?

Hi all, new to this forum so I hope I am in the correct thread. We are due to go to Morzine on the 14th March so I have been keeping an eye on the weather.
A long range forecast it stated that the weather is to get warmer with no snowfall after Saturday 7th March until Tuesday 10th March (this is as far as it will forecast), how worried should I be that we will have little to no snow on Saturday 14th March? Confused

@TomsTurbo, It will all be worn out by 14 March. We arrive for the lads' trip 8-14 and will be doing our best to use it all up!

@sarah, Glad to see there was some fresh up top. I was concerned with all that talk of rain (and not just talk I understand!).
