Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@marodo2712, Good idea. A night in the gendarmerie would be cosy. Otherwise, we will take what comes. Visiting the tourist offices is definitely on the list of actions. Just trying to avoid having to schlep around. The train to Zermatt etc is definitely an option. Youth hostel is full however

@ChrisWo, that's the last resort. Maybe just party all night like 30 years ago. Something will turn up, it may stretch our resources but I'm a believer. I expect to find somewhere for the Thursday arrival, it's the Friday and Saturday that concern me. There are plenty of warm foyers out there. I've got form, 11 years ago I did this https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=46804 Blue Monday madness caused it, your honour

In the spirit of this thread I have persuaded my two friends to book a flight to Geneva on Feb 20th returning on the 27th. This is during half term so accommodation is scarce. I would like to have something booked in advance. Any ideas, suggestions, offers very welcome! Otherwise we will be sleeping in a hire car! Many thanks

@jdgs, any news on this? I'm looking for something from Gatwick or a DIY to Val d'Isere or Chamonix. There's always Mark Warner if people are prepared to share rooms.

@tccambs, My friend and I will be in Gressoney that week. I'm keen to do the off piste and conditions should be good. We are staying at the DuFour hotel. Perhaps we can meet up to discuss? That's great, but I don't know what makes you think the conditions should be good. So far the webcams look dismal. I'm really hoping that next week's snowmageddon makes it to the southern alps, but the current forecast is only for 30-40cm, which I would guess will be enough to open the pistes but not the off piste. I'll be staying at the Valverde, which is about 20 metres away from you! I'm an optimist 😎 There's always something to discover in a new (to me) resort and with the snowfall promised the piste will hopefully be like off-piste. Hopefully we can meet up!
And they're a friendly bunch.

Surely some mistake here. Grands Montets is Chamonix/Argentierre... Swiss Wall is in Avoriaz. Not ever having been to Avoriaz I can't be sure it doesn't have a Grands Montets too

Hi Gregor, I'm looking to go on the 12th for a week to Zermatt or Cervinia or Champoluc or even Espace Killy or 3 valleys. Skiworld do last minute deals for two in a room; it's flights that will be the problem. I can go from Gatwick. I can give my contact a call and see if there anything with flights from both airports. Alternatively, Inghams usually have better flights so have a look there. If we both search and check for deals it could happen. BTW I'm a fifty+ male skier similarly relaxed and sociable. Good luck!

There is a valid point to be made :-D Each throw of a coin is (notionally at least) a 'discrete' event unconnected with past or future throws of the coin. OTOH weather events are related to past weather events so there is a justification for saying that a change in the weather is due IMHO.... Stand-by for a long and involved debate
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I'm always keen for a spontaneous ski trip. I have booked the week before xmas off. I might have to buy a package (male twin share) if necessary but would rather have a road trip. The opening weekends might be brought forward so a trip to St Anton, Chamonix or even the Dolomites would be great. Have you anything specific in mind?

The company I work for http://www.voestalpine.com/group/en/skygate are sponsoring the World Cup in Schladming Take a look at the link to see the awesome SkyGate they have built for the finish area. Also they are running a race for employees the following month. I don't know all the details yet but I'm in a field of 80 so I'm very grateful for the advice here. Keep it coming :D

Fabulous skiing around Arraba today. We drove over from Cortina on summer tyres as the sun has kept the road clear. Looking forward to doing the sellaronda tomorrow... as long as the diesel doesn't freeze again. I see now why one would never ski anywhere else :)
