Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Got mine 2016 its brilliant. It the difference between skiing every day we are not travelling on a one month road trip.or skiing half the days we are in resort. So we do 12 night 1st resort , 6 nights 2nd resort 12 nights 3rd resort .

Emails from some of the resorts this am. Public dinning on the mountains in Whistler no hot food on mountain and restricted seating for dinners . Sharing a chair lift: you can only share with members of your own party. So no singles line. No making up a 4 or 6. Silver star they moved tables from lunch time restaurant to spread people out and you can only share with people in your party. 2/3 of the dinning tables moved to a conference centre 100m away from restaurant . Bring your own lunch! (Brown bags) moved to conference centre. Buying lunch go to town hall cafe restricted seating and dinning options. No mixing of parties on lift . So still open but restricting mixing

At Sun peaks you could go on a cat trax groomer ride as the slopes close they do rides out for about 45 mins ( we sent my Father out on one a few years ago). Snow limo tour, ski bike, snowmobiling trips, you can get a bus to Kamloops a couple of days a week. If your booked into the grand then there are outdoor slopeside hot tubs and a pool. Whistler has Audain art gallery/museum, Squamish lil'wat cultural centre, zipline tour, snow mobile, there are twenty spas. Some of the buses are free some you pay for depends on what you want to do.

We will be using o2 phones this time, pay monthly on tariff with o2 with 20G per month or more give data and minutes in Canada. Had to increase the monthly payment and pay for more gigs than i will ever use each month to get it but saves trying to buy a sim in Canada. We bought one sim last year from Walmart it was a phaff and cost $15 to buy and $10 for calls all plus tax but you will need a Zip Code to register the card.... you do in BCIi dont know if its the same in Alberta.

We do our own thing booking wise. Book flights usually Ba about 11months in advance (business class mid week £750 each way.) book an overnight stay next to the airport for after we land, I book this with the flight. Accommodation, allura direct, or through central booking for resort or resort based agency. This has to be left until summer if you booking condos as the majority are individually owned and you have to wait for the owners to decide when they are going to be using their own place. Then you pay a deposit and leave cc to recover for a couple of months. Then look at taking internal flights in BC or driving. I check cost for both options and the logistics as to getting between resorts with or without a car. This year flying to Kelowna picking up a 4x4 for 3 weeks driving it to Vancouver. Visited Sun Peaks, Silver Star, Revelstoke, Panorama, Big White, Whistler, Lake Louise, Banff, Sunshine (stayed in Canmore) Keep an eye on lift passes. season pass for Sun Peaks break even about 8 days ( bought in June) this gives 2 days of free ski lifts in Silver Star and 50% off tickets in Whistler and 25% off at a whole list other ski resort.
And they're a friendly bunch.

We did whistler connection? They had a lady with a clipboard at the exit from baggage pickup . Who gave directions to bus stand and time of departure and label with accommodation name so the driver could "stack" the bus. You could email free wifi in the airport.

@stuarth, Yes there is a grizzly bear called Boo. lives in a fenced off patch of mountain. The refuge area is large enough he can gather up 80% of his own food and then this is supplement by the park rangers dropping in road kill. Any deer or sheep that are killed on local roads are dropped in from a chair lift. He has been known to wander off he dug his way out on a couple of occasions when he sniffed a female passing by! then after a couple of weeks found his way back to the gate of his area and waited to be let back in. (big electric fence). He has dug a "swimming" pool next to a spring has a few toys, he "plays" with some logs of various sizes he puts them in the pool. We went in summer a few years ago we were lucky he came up to the fence had a sniff at the visitors and went for a bath. We watched him throwing around a telegraph size pole. My niece who was about 7 at the time was absolutely stunned by this, she still talks about it 6yrs on.

I don't know but they lower a groomer of sorts from the top to get rid of the worst twigs that show through. If they need to spread out the snow at the end of the season they do sometimes do it again. That's it though.@stuarth,

It's happens alot, it's all the Australian's who are booked through to Aus who get priority as they often fly kelowna-vanouver-LA-sydney. The earlier in the day you fly the more likely it is your skis will make it. Last week our flight to Kelowna from Vancouver was delayed as they had to load lots is extra skis on. We have to get to Manchester to find out if our skis make it.

Book a 4x4 and when you get to the airport tell the car hire people your driving up the coquihall. Here have a full suv with winter tyres madame. We are at Sun Peaks at the moment (-26 and snowing and windy ) we have a GMC Yucon massive 4x4 suv thing. Ask your relative if they know any one with "buddy tickets" season pass holders get 3 each. +1 download maps on to phone. Duffy lake road is nice just the Fraiser valley bit with the steep drop to the river and no barrier just before Lillooet gets me every time. We stayed in Vancouver over night and flew to Kelowna in the morning picked up the car and drove here going to Silver Star and Big White as well. Then back to Vancouver and up to Whistler. We normally drive all of it but last year was awful weather so we flew to and from Kelowna.... Don't eat the cinnamon buns (you will be spoiled for life) the sunburst cafe sells small cinnamon loafs as buns covered in cinnamon toffee.

if the incidents had happened today the police would have been called but we are talking 18 yrs ago, and it was a hazard of swimming in a mixed session in a public swimming pool and there will be a lot of ladies out there who had similar problems.

I like the women only swimming sessions. I used to go swimming at lunch time and after having my breasts grabbed and my bum touched and various other incidental "man handling " problems in the mixed sessions I stopped going. These were mixed sessions 60% of the people swimming appeared to be female no female at these sessions managed what today would be classed as assault upon my person. But 2-3 of the males could manage to offend virtually every woman in the pool. These problems did not occur every time and a change of day of the week removed one pest. A second was barred from the venue, 1 guy managed to keep turning up. So I just stopped going...... sadly so did most of the other people as 7 months later all the lunch time sessions stopped due to lack of support.
You know it makes sense.

@stuarth, We know we drove past one of the smaller fires near Hope twice. We have had problems in the past as well. We have been evacuated once when the fire was closer to us than we were to the other end of town and the local fire brigade were hosing our roof and the nearby trees!

Air quality!!!!!! we were in BC a couple of weeks ago air quality scale 1-10 it was 10+ for days. It looked like it was really foggy but it was smoke. We reckoned the exhaust gas from the car was cleaner than the air going in. The sun was a red glow most of the day there was that much smoke in the air. The air quality has improved is down to 4 now. Remember when you go for a walk you could be lunch.

You can fly to Vancouver from Manchester via LHR then catch a shuttle bus to sun peaks. or Air Canada will book you all the way to Kamloops but not necessarily on the flights you want flying via Calgary gets you into Kamloops earlier than than if you fly via Vancouver. Ba you book Manchester to Vancouver then book either Air Canada or west jet to Kamloops. Or book to Seattle then to Kamloops cannot remember who we flew out of Seattle with. Icelandair Manchester to Vancouver, via Reykjavik, again you have to book your own onward flight to Kamloops. We are flying from Manchester to Heathrow to Vancouver staying overnight then fly to Kelowna, drive to Sun peaks 10 days then we are going to Silver star for a few days then fly back to Vancouver. There is a shuttle from Kelowna airport to sun peaks. You book the shuttle with the resort on the web site. We have found its better going to Calgary but BA have dropped that flight in this winter. The Calgary flight got in earlier with more flights to pick from to Kamloops and Kelowna.

I would get a 4x4 . We did Calgary to Vancouver via Banff, LL, Big White, Silver Star Sun Peaks and Whistler, some interesting weather was encountered. We saw more snow plough in this one trip than in the previous 15yrs of Canadian ski trips, some years we have had no problems driving around.

That's a pain we usually fly into Calgary with ba then on to Kelowna or Kamloops. As the flight into Calgary was earlier than the one to Vancouver, there were more choices, which meant we got to the resort the same day.... Plus Calgary flight went from the same terminal, avoiding the bus ride to terminal 3. 2019 we have booked to fly to Vancouver I have booked a hotel for the first night.

We skied in Panorama 3 yrs ago it was great for a week. We did not use ski school, we did use the local free guides the ones we skied with 2 were British. Outdoor swimming pools well worth a visit. There is a place you can learn how to make glass beads, if you fancy a morning or afternoon off. The drive from Calgary was fine. There is a transfer bus as well. The restaurant's were not my favourites in Canada. One was outstanding and expensive, the rest were below average. There is a small supermarket for basics.

Its a small resort with empty pistes, orderly short lift queues. Not enough on slope restaurants. Lots of trees lots of glades , excellent ski school, a great wine festival. Good snow not all the runs are groomed every day so there is a mix of conditions. We are a bit older so we don't have to ski all day or every day we like the quiet runs and the restaurants at the bottom of the slopes.

We just do it ourselves via allura, or owners direct, sunpeakscondos (local rental agent). We normally go; Ba Manchester to YVR, then we either stay overnight near the airport then we fly to Kamloops or Kelowna (longer transfer) and some times we drive, this year we hired a ford explorer 7 seat and luggage space, it was vast.. 4 adults all bags and skis, food and beer/wine and we could still see out of the back window. Only ever rent a 4x4 and watch the weather before we drive. Some years we fly to Calgary then to either Kamloops or Kelowna. Man-yvr-yka or ylw. The BA flight to Calgary leaves earlier in the day and means you can easily get to resort in one day. Then you can book with aircanada, and link all the flights, so no extra luggage costs. Also Iceland air which we have looked at but not used. Keep looking at the web site for the season passes.
And they're a friendly bunch.

Not many ski passes in costco this year! We will stick with Sun Peaks season pass for now, and 25% off some resorts and 50% in whistler.
