Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Booked for half term, not been there before. Anyone got some top tips or recommendations (or warnings from history!). Anything and everything gratefully listened to, good bars, restaurants, mountain haunts, routes, secret stashes etc, etc. Driving there with the kids, will probably be looking for some lessons for them too... Wisdom of crowds, guide me!

@Android2000, depends on point of origin of the goods in question being inside the EU. The EU citizen, being then the importer, would have to account for the goods for the duration of their transit. The carnet is the manifest of those goods and tax would be liable on any items not leaving the EU zone on exit.

@Sweeney Todd, I suspect it'll only soothe them if you arriving from an RoI port... Rolling off the le shuttle with a GB plate car stuffed to the gunnels with new skis, while brandishing an still-in-wrapper Irish passport may identify you merely as 'le derriere intelligente'... And one soon to meet 'les gants caoutchouc'
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Back in the before-time, it was an absolute bugg for racing cars in Europe as if you went over with tyres and spares, you had to carnet the lot, and bring back the busted kit with you to prove you hadn't sold them. I knew of rally crews going around begging up tyre carcasses to refill the vans. I pity Spyderjon hauling kit over for the ESOB tests...

@MikeM, ah sure you could upload the 'mhirscher.dat' file to your exo-suit, but would it still be you skiing, or are you just a meat puppet along for the ride?

@admin, yes they do! The kind that don't require height, weigh, boot size, inside leg measurement, what you had for breakfast, and what side Sir dresses to to be passed to Spyderjon and his micrometer to stop them being a trip to casualty. I'll bring some anyway, and I'll haul the Jones Flagship down too if anyone wants to have a go.
And post your own questions...

I doubt it's been tried beyond 'noboarding', i.e. No binding at all. Without locking the angle during riding you wouldn't be able to properly apply pressure to an edge without it slipping.

@admin, what will be the deal with bindings? Are they bringing some down or will they want us to bring our own?

I'm interested in the K2 Cool Bean (144 pref.) if one is available. And if the Manifest (159 pref) is there I'd like to give that a go.

You can get a 10% discount using the word 'Metro'... although most of that will get eaten by the booking fee DECATHLON10 should work for the first 150 customers too.

If you've got that little inboard clearance, you'd be better off putting a 5mm wheel spacer in to increase the gap to accommodate the chain.

@DaddyLouLou, I had one go the same way. It had a sort of rubberised matt coating which was very hard wearing but ultimately went weird.

@LaForet, the profile of the tyre won't* have an effect on aquaplaning. Width definitely does. *OK, in fairness, some but so very marginal, relating to the bound and rebound of the tyre wall at various pressures and temperatures.

Been riding the Flagship for a while and I like it a lot but they do favour a more aggressive rider, which I was used to coming from an old mid-wide Triumph so suits me. That said, my one was an early edition of that board and they have 'relaxed' the Flagship each season since they released it. Unsure about the Jones Explorer, feels like they made it to fill the gap between the Flagship and the MT. Heard good things about the XV that @hang11 mentions, would be on my shortlist if I was shopping right now... Along with the current Flagship.

We have a grab bag of ski boots, snowboard boots and a board for the kids now, all second or more hand, most found on here when other parents clear out their stashes, so either post what you're looking for or keep a sharp lookout for For Sale items. It only really works if your carriage costs are zero, so factor that going forwards. I only considered their own kit when we started doing the drive down to the Alps. 3 pairs of small ski boots still add a good few KGs to the luggage.

The PvP bit they added tail-end of last year works nicely, would like to see it expanded to wingsuit, toboggan and para-flying. Anyone know if the xbox and ps4 players play in the same space on the Ubisoft network or are they separated on the Microsoft/PlayStation user networks?

I told the kids years back that Marmot whistle to each other and they still try to lure them out by whistling... Then again, I also told them they were about the size of a cow and that they hibernate under the pistes and that's what's under the moguls.

If you go into a tree we'll head first, how do you plan on triggering an alarm where a whistle wouldn't work? Short answer is don't go alone and when you ride in the trees keep maintaining sight of each other so if you do go in, the other isn't half a mile downhill when they realise
