Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Oh no, really sad to read this  I never met her (sadly) but I'll really miss her presence on Snowheads. Actually, I don't know what to say without it coming out a bit mawkish (which I get the impression she wouldn't have liked at all!) so I'll just say RIP Sue. Hugs & condolences to all of you who knew her personally xxx

Hell fire, sequoiaboard, that's dreadful  I would send virtual big hugs, but the way things are going, that might break a rib or something :( So I'll send small & gentle hugs, & hope that's not too painful xxx
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name.

As regards the scanning thing, we asked why when it first happened to us (about last June, I think) and were told that it was because people were booking motorcycle crossings & then turning up in cars & vans... We came over to France on the Tunnel on Wednesday evening. I had texts from Eurotunnel warning me about Operation Stack & 2 hour train delays, but as it turned out, we had an fairly easy drive down (via junction 2 of the M25 onto A2, M2, A229 (I think) to Maidstone then A20 to J9 of M20 - sorry to be so detailed, but it worked very well for us, so it might be of help), only missed our check-in time by a couple of minutes, and were sent straight through onto a train which left 5 mins before our booked time. I realise now that we were very fortunate!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Terrible news. I'm finding it hard to believe - he was such a lovely, optimistic, upbeat, brave person... I honestly can't believe I'm using the past tense here. Sincere condolences to Kitty and all the family. RIP Brett

Would be lovely, but unfortunately we can't make it - we're away that weekend. Otherwise we'd definitely have been there - ski tests are always fun :sH:

crazy_skier_jules, Ruth de Luge, nice to meet up with you in Geneva airport & so glad you got home safely :D We were amazingly fortunate - our plane was only about an hour late on take-off, & Luton airport re-opened as we were en route (phew!) so we were the only arrivals at a lovely quiet airport... Cannot believe that we managed to get home with so little trouble, tbh! And to all :sH: caught up in travel chaos, do hope you arrive as safely and soon as possible. +1 :sH:

It's OK to take your boots on as hand luggage from an airport policy point of view... individual airlines may have different views, though! But even then, if you have your boots in a non-obvious bag & keep quiet about it when checking in, you'll be absolutely fine. I do speak from considerable experience, btw :-D

paulio, really glad it went well! You're always going to be critical of the views, food etc. because you know how much better it can be (& because you want everything to be perfect, as would I in that situation) but I bet your Mum is going to have fabulous memories of the day :)

Have a brilliant trip, everyone! We would've been with you, because we were looking out for a cheap Christmas deal, but we cracked & booked LDA a few hours before it was announced (off first thing tomorrow morning :D ). So if anyone's thinking of helicoptering over, give us a shout... :sH:

Snowing in Milton Keynes at the moment (& quite windy too). Too warm to stick at the mo (although very skiddy - was glad of my winter tyres driving along the country roads earlier) but if it freezes tonight...

And another thing... they like to be paid in cash, because it makes refunds easier if it's cancelled. So do be sure to take enough with you, because it's a long way back into town! Btw, are you there with a TO? Because if you are, you might be able to get them to do the booking for you... would be worth asking!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Snapzzz, it's at the Altiport in ADH (Lizzard is talking about LDA). Bit of a pain to book, tbh, because you do need to go in person (& I recommend ringing first, because they're not always there when they say they will be!). But it's really worth doing! :D One thing I would say is, don't get your hopes up too much - it's often cancelled due to adverse conditions. So it might be best to play it down a bit to your kids, just in case...

Flet©h, the piste that the Milka Cow skis on. Honestly, I'm not kidding... the cuddly purple cow will be there at weekends (& presumably school hols as well) to give out chocolate to the kids, & there will be various information boards along the side of the piste giving details of local wildlife. Rather sweet, actually... even if the sight of a purple cow on skis is a bit of a flashback moment

Hope you're going to stick around now (& maybe you could do a trip report when you come back from Serre Che? Always welcome!). Have a great trip :sH: Oh, & Tignes is an excellent choice for April - go for it! You know you want to :-D

spud, it looks pretty good. I'd maybe like the ends to be a little pointier, & I'm not sure about the six shorter bits (perhaps look at it without those?) but it's nice... Would also like to see the final result! kooky, go for it! Why not?

Appletot, hi, & welcome to Snowheads. It can be a bit quiet at this time of year, so that's probably the reason why you havn't had any replies so far. I'm afraid I can't give you any specific information about your chalet, but I had a look at it online, & it really does look pretty nice, so I don't think you need to worry :) Les Deux Alpes is a great resort for beginners - well, it's a great resort in general, IMO (we love it) but it's fairly unusual in that it has beginner slopes up on the glacier as well as at resort level and just above, so you'll be able to ski (& see) quite a lot of the area. Catered chalets are lovely, in my experience :D We've stayed in many, & we're in still in touch with lots of friends that we made there. After all, you're all there in pursuit of a common interest, so it's not hard to strike up conversation! And we've never met the 'guests-from-hell' (although it could be us, of course... statistically speaking, it's possible :-D ). I'm sure you'll have a great time :sH:

More sanctimonious snowheads who obviously never even creep above the speed limit. I give up too. What is this supposed to mean, exactly? Don't be ridiculous. holidayloverxx, really, she's never going to get it. I'm finding it pretty hard to stomach too, but I think we're running out of ways to explain. If it's not clear to her by now, it's never going to be, unfortunately.

Jo225, and again, we're talking about an airport hotel where long stay parking is the norm Irrelevant. and where there were plenty of unused disabled parking spaces available. When you arrived, maybe. How on earth do you know that this was the case for the duration of the time that you parked there? You were out of the country! You really don't get it, do you? Disabled parking spaces are there for the purpose of making access easier for disabled people. They are not there for the security of your car when you and the disabled person are on holiday in another country. How hard is that to understand?

queen bodecia, just to clarify, you left your car parked in a disabled bay at a hotel whilst you & your disabled mother went away on holiday. I don't believe this qualifies as 'the intended terms of usage' at all.

I'm never quite sure whether people are simply taking the pee on here. Since when is parking a car with a disabled occupant in a disabled space 'absolutely disgraceful' behaviour? When you go away for several days with said disabled person, leaving the car in a space which other disabled people may need. Rather obvious, I would have thought. The disabled space is there to enable ease of access to the hotel. Your disabled mother was not even in the hotel for most of the time. I have, of course, no problem with the disabled space being used while she was actually in residence. Please do take notice, it's important.
And post your own questions...
