Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

We are early 50s and like a bit of apres and music in the pubs and find Soll ticks all the boxes for us.
Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

We went to Soll in Austria this summer. It was very warm. We had days of 28 degrees in the mountain and 33 in the valley. We had a fab time. Rented mountain bikes, swam in lakes. As a couple we did find the night life very quiet
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name.

Looking at this morning forecast on Bergfex Christmas is looking very Grim in the Skiwelt Austria. As the saying goes only one thing worse than mild weather in the Alps and that is Mild Wet Weather and that looks like what is coming

We love SteinplAtte and will be there over New Year. Hopefully skiing. Every year I start getting Nervy after booking so early in the season. Great place for kids. Haven't tried ski school but there are plenty around. We also like to ski over to Winklmoos which is great for beginners.

Yes getting Stoked, going for 2weeks over Christmas/New Year with various members of family joining for a belated 50th celebration. Already kinda regretting booking so early in the season, but with people only needing 3days annual leave couldn’t help but picking those dates. I have already starting checking daily the weather thread. also need to stick to my diet better and up my spinning class So definitely getting stoked
You know it makes sense.

Thank You. Hadn't thought about doing the Kufstein route. Last time we went to Solden we went over fern pass. Just a pity you can't take a scheduled flight from Ireland to Innsbruck

Kufstein will be rammed on Saturday with all of the Dutch who don't want to pay for a vignette going home. Vingette only €10. Tight gits. So A93 or not. Plan on leaving Soll around 5am

We did it in early January and even though we were not stopped the traffic was down to one lane which made for a very slow and long journey. Thank you. Will try that route.

Thinking of doing Obergurgl last week in March. Also skiing Hochgurgl. When we were in Solden a few years ago found mountain restaurants expensive. Just wondering if Obergurgl mountain restaurants are similar in price.
You know it makes sense.

Champoluc/Monterosa might fit the bill? Gentle pistes - mostly red markers but really mostly blue motorways Enough to keep a lazy skier interested for a week - only you can decide Few or no drag lifts - not one that I can think of Good / cheap mountainside restaurants - yep Under 2 hour transfer - depends on which airport you fly in to Decent bars - only you can decide but there are a number of them, never impeded us. We have availability in our apartment w/c 13 Jan if of any interest, details here http://bit.ly/2reOplO You are doing a good job of selling resort. After many years skiing in Austria 🇦🇹 I would love to try Italy 🇮🇹 and this ticks a lot of the boxes. Just wondering what are the nearest airports. Also are the snow making facilities good.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name.

Just looking for some advice, just wondering has anyone ever arrived in Ski Resort without accomodation booked and managed to get sorted. Bit of background, had flights and accommodation booked for Soll February 25th. Family member diagnosed with serious illness and didn't think we could travel those dates so cancelled our accomodation and flights still in place, now looking we can possibly travel those dates. I have managed to secure accomodation in Obergurgl for those dates, stillnot ruling out Soll but not having much luck finding something within budget. We will have car hire and therefore isn't an issue if we end up somewhere rural.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Well we have just decided to change our low lying plans for New Year and head to the higher slopes of Hochgurgl/obergurgl. I would regard myself as one of those timid skiers who like my easy blues. Hopefully won't be disappointed.

We have always used rental cars.com previously carhire3000, never had any problems, this year we are going down the route of third party insurance because the insurance buy out charges are making rental very expensive

Couple of things, traffic back into Munich can be awful on a Sunday evening so make sure to allow plenty time to get back to Munich Airport. Also there are a few companies that offer winterisation and the only time we found car hire desks really busy is on Saturday morning.
