Boots
When should I buy them? Where should I buy them? What are the key things to know?
Ski boots are the most important thing to buy, as soon as you know you're going to be going more than once! Buy from an experienced boot fitter, not just off the shelf and expect the buying process to take a couple of hours. Boots have 3 main components, the outer shell, the inner and the footbed. The fitter will assess the shape & volume of your foot and first will ask you to try on shells without inners. Some inners are heat moulded to the shape of your foot. Boots come with standard footbeds (insoles), but many people have custom footbeds made in the shop. These are made to fit your feet when you are standing in a good position and in use will help you to stand in that position.
