Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Southern hemisphere ski season finally comes to a close

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Turoa Ski Area on New Zealand's Mt. Ruapehu closed for the winter season yesterday, making it the last ski area in the southern hemisphere to do so. It has been a record year at Mt Ruapehu, with the highest number of visitors and first-ever 5m snow base at Turoa.
In Australia, the winter of 2008 also had some of the most consistently good snow that the Australian alpine resorts had experienced in a decade. ...The total national “skier days” were again over the two million mark. In both Victoria and NSW, the number of visitors was slightly greater than 2007, and a 2.6% percent increase on the 10-year average.

Whitegold, Also they are saying Thredbo is open for skiing all year round - it is about as far south of the equator as southern Spain is north, which is interesting for the global warming brigade.

Gordyjh, it didn't actually say that - I think it was saying that a lift would be open all year round; implicitly, for other activities.

Having been to Thredbo in the southern autumn (albeit a long time ago) I would be astonished if there were skiable snow there all year round.
