Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Canada - Late deals or Booking direct

Due to a particular set of circumstances I cannot book any trips until about 2 weeks before departure for fear of not being able to go and loosing money because cancelling a trip you know you may not go on is not insured. Does anyone have experience of booking direct for Canada I would like to go back to Banff but can't book until 2 weeks before departure.

I suspect that booking accommodation won't be too hard. My experience has been that Canadian resorts have pretty efficient accommodation services that can usually find you stuff. Booking a flight last minute for a reasonable price (or at all if you're going at a busy time) will not be so easy.

We stay in the fairmont hotels and they allow us cancellation anywhere up to about 24 hours prior to arrival. So you can likely book the accomodation without worries.

Russell, It may be worthwhile checking out Zoom Airlines for cheap flights to Canada, but I don't know if you can book only 2 weeks before departure

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Russell, I'd say your chances of success depend on when you want to go. If you fancy January, I'd say there wouldn't be a problem.

I want to go in March its classed as low season in Banff but I agree it will be flights that are the problem accommodation should be pretty straight forward. The problem I have found with booking packages is the web sites say there are no flights available if you only put down one person travelling. Miraculously as soon as you put two people travelling the flights become available annoying for us single travellers.

Hopefully, but again going to be a last minute decision it all depend on whether my sister get a date for surgery or not or if she has recovered enough if the she's had her operation. My parents will cover if she is not quite fit but they can run the business if my sister is in hospital or completely incapacitated. So really my season is down the crapper apart from last minute deals etc.

Russell we will be going - might be worthwhile booking a flight and losing the money if you cannot go and you can share our transport - it'll be a Focus or similar next year.

Paul Mason, I'm inclined to agree a low cost flight is worth the gamble

Especially at the cost we got them for last year.

I do want to go for better flight times though. We have a few more choices this year with local airports advertsing flights to GVA. (Leeds B, Ncle, Edinburgh, Sheffield, ) We may even be tempted to go from Mann chess toh or Liverpool if we can get daytime flights.

Back on topic I hope you get sorted with Canada.

Paul Mason, I'm not hopeful I want to go about the 1st of March as some friends and people I skied with last year are there at that time. I'm resigning myself to a reduced season this year I don't think I'll get the same amount of days on snow as last year I think I'll be lucky to get 2 weeks.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

- not direct, but Canada - If you are open to Whistler rather than banff, then both SKiworld and Ski Total have chalets there and Skiworld in partuclar have late USA/Canadian deals 2-3 weeks before departure - might be worth a look.....
