Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
A seven-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries after falling 60 feet onto rocks from a chair lift in a resort in California on Sunday. The boy was on the way up the Mount Lincoln Express at Sugar Bowl - north-west of Lake Tahoe - with two other children when he fell ...CBS television and written report

Many Americans refuse to use the bar even when it there.

very sad.
far too many Western US resorts have lifts without bars, or without foot rests (which I'd consider a safety enhancement).
And it seems they have no state laws requiring the use of th bar.
Safety is the one area that the north east US wins hands down, with signs up warning to lower bar by state law, with the resort confiscating tickets and handing over to police anyone who refuses to.

I once had to hold a French kid by the arm when he fell out the side of a chair lift I was riding. I managed to hold onto him the whole way. Still brings me out in a sweat thinking about it. He was put on with 2 unknown adults by the ski school in Les 2 Alpes. Shocked Shocked

On one occasion, when my son was around 8 years old, we skied in a small resort in Yugoslavia, and there was only one run open because of bad snow conditions at the time. He got on a single chair lift just before me, and as we were on the way, he looked back at me and shouted that there was no bar on his chair. I was in a cold sweat, praying for his safety all the way to the top...

Reading about this latest terrible tragedy, it makes me feel very sad that lifts are not more meticulously checked everywhere... Shocked Sad
