Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

b) To do some timed S/GS runs ... and beat a 4yo
c) Learn to do 'bumps'
d) Be genuinely confident on any pisted slope
e) To ski as well as I do in 'The Bar' or on here and
4) Conquer my fear of heights a bit more ( although I hate admitting I have a big problem!)

David Murdoch, I thought I was being conservative ! I've only just started so it is a promise to myself to JFDI, I suspect that LCY, NCE , GVA and I will become better acquainted though as I still have to work and driving will not be an option.

It can be great - just head for the steeper stuff, cause not as many people will be there, and ski by feel, not sight. It can be almost zen-like!

I almost skiied into a lift once. I was following our instructor, who led us to some drag lift. I didn't realise there was anything there until I was standing a few feet from the turnstiles rolling eyes

If you divide by the 10 hr per day that some of you folks put in ski touring and then multiply by the number of hrs that I spend per day actually moving downhill on skis ... possibly . Smile

I know it's unfair but I changed the post ! I mange to sleep 10 hrs a night in the mountains ( as opposed to 6 normally) - so much for altitude

Wear The Fox Hat, nope. I still get sick. It's a balance thing. When I can't see whether I'm moving or not, no matter what my feet tell my head I still get nauseous and have to head for a bar.

eEvans, a noble goal and I wish you every success in reaching it. I reckon that's an exceptional number of days to do and still hold down a permanent job.

Frosty the Snowman, no, decimal point in right place. 57 days on snow. Last year was slightly excessive, helped by a mid season job change. I'm not expecting to equal or better it this year I must add! Sad As I've mentioned elsewhere I think we were very, very lucky to be able to do that and I deeply, deeply appreciated it.

Is this one of your "goals" for next season - I would have thought it would have been pretty much of a guaranteed each year Very Happy

Mine:
1) Improve off-piste technique enough to cope with couloirs adequately
2) Get sufficiently fit to tour at a beyond a beginner's speed
3) Maybe find out a taste of what racing is about (no intentions of actually being a racer of any standard however low though)
.
.
.
cont p94) Ski a week without falling over Embarassed (but probably entirely inconsistent with goals 1 & 3)

beanie1, that is probably a very sound idea. I haven't, although I tend simply to avoid skiing when it's absolutely zero vis and I can't stay in the trees. Thankfully I don't know many people who relish those conditions so I usually get away with it.
