Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Booked up for early Feb. The terrain looks good and looking forward to some tree lined boarding. Can anyone who has been recommend some good bars? Also, are there any resorts close by that are worth a day trip etc?

Ta very much.

Philip Prior, Charleys Treff at the bottom of the Planai gondola and Siglu in the main square are good early apres bars, later on Hanglbar, Maria's Mexican, Scenario's and La Porta are decent bars. Sonderbar is the town nighclub but to be honest is not the worlds best. We were there in January and the bars (and slopes)were generally quiet, spent most of of our time in La Porta which is the best of the bars, good atmosphere and music. Tour Ops may run trips to Badgastien and/or Flachau which are both covered on the ski amade lift pass. I would recommend Flachau its only 20mins by taxi and has good skiing and a top class lift system, gondola, 4,6, and 8 seater chairs so no drags for you darksider boys (and a top apres bar beside gondola station). Its further to Badgastein but Dorfgastein is closer and has a big enough area for a day trip.

Don't miss Onkle Willies Hutte, up on the planai mountain about 100m across from the top of the gondola. When we were there a couple of years ago it stayed open til 7pm one night of the week, and was brilliant - lots of weird shots, bizarre games and the conga in ski boots - true austrian apres ski!!! The gondola also runs late so you don't ski down p****d and in the dark, mind you the gondola is pretty scary after a few to many!!!

Philip Prior,

Do a search on "Schladming" it's been talked about before.

Schladming is mid left on this map

Obertauern, Krippenstein amongst others in the area are also worth a look.

Philip Prior, if you are really sad you could hang out at the Sporthotel Royer- rumour is that Arnold Schwarzenerger stays there when he skis in Europe- he grew up in a small village not far from Schladming.

Zachensee (sic?) It's a bit higher and often gets more snow. The four mountain inter-connect and the chair through the tunnel are favorites. I agree about Uncle Willie's a lot of fun for lunch and the grub is good. Razz
